Dirty Epics
DIRTY EPICS Origin: Dublin, Ireland Irish four-piece Dirty Epics has quickly been making a name for themselves in the UK with their brash, bold punk-pop confections. Fronted by sexy siren SJ Wai, with able accompaniment from guitarist Cormac Farrell, bassist Richard Power and drummer Alan Delaney, the group brings together a diverse roster of influences (including Kings of Leon, Iggy & the Stooges and Blondie) to produce a sound that Ireland’s Sunday Business Post referred to as “so unnervingly, invigoratingly direct, you can’t help but nod and tap your foot furiously from the first second to the last.” Dirty Epics released their debut album, Straight In No Kissing, last October through their own SCAR Records (distributed by Universal) and received a rapturous response from the local media, with the Irish Times noting, “Think The Subways partying with The Kills--raunchy rebellion guaranteed to end in errant hook-ups and questionable bruising.” Dirty Epics recently completed their inaugural American tour, including a show-stopping performance at SXSW that inspired the Austin Chronicle to rave, “Three men and one woman from Dublin whose debut, Straight In No Kissing, is a retro-revelation that recalls X-Ray Spex at their most aggressively horny.
