Hargo

Appearances can be deceiving, but sometimes appearances can reveal a story. Hargo is a man with an array of pasts, countless possible futures, but one destination. Born an only child, in Eugene, Oregon, Hargo grew up in a very musical family. Some of his earliest memories included his father playing tunes from David Bowie, Tom Petty and the Beatles on guitar. His mother was also a musical influence, who sang and played the violin, harmonium and some guitar. At the tender age of seven, Hargo picked up his first guitar and learned how to play along with his father. One year later, he wrote his first song, “Giving” which was about the simple message of humanity. At 13, he performed the song for the first time in front of his teacher and mentor. The performance was so impressive that the teacher had requested that Hargo perform the song in front of the entire class. “In front of the whole crowd he told me to start making up a new song, out loud, on the spot. After being a bit shocked, I started playing my guitar and making up lyrics and melody in a stream-of-consciousness manner, which evolved into a very interesting song. After a few minutes my teacher told me that I should write songs in this way, that it’s better to be direct with people and not dilute the message of a song with too much symbolism and hyperbole.” Taking these lessons to heart, Hargo had recorded a few albums and really started to become an artist at an early age. Now in his mid-twenties and based in San Diego, CA, he’s on the verge of releasing a new EP, The Faint Glow, scheduled to be released in the Spring.
