Makeshift Innocence

Makeshift Innocence

In 2007 lead singer and songwriter Jesse-James Cameron and guitarist Benjamin Bald formed Makeshift Innocence, a four-piece that also includes Tammy Amstutz on bass and Dylan Lichtenberger on drums and percussion. Cameron lived and went to school in Negril, Jamaica, where he fell in love with the tones and feel of reggae--music that now infuses the Canadian group's rock, reggae, pop and roots sounds, with key influences ranging from Bob Marley to Sublime. Known as one of Western Canada's best live acts, selling out 10 Alberta shows in 2010, they are showcasing at this year's Canadian Music Week on March 11 in Toronto and at MUSEXPO in Los Angeles on May 1. Their newest release, "All You Need Is Love" (Feb 2011), is the lead track from their new CD scheduled for release in June. Although Makeshift Innocence was built around a live show, they remain one of the few Alberta-based acts that can expect to receive major commercial radio airplay. Independently, they have already received radio play at Canadian CHR radio and Hot AC stations. The Makeshift live show is best described as energetic, festive, engaging and completely interactive, full of fun while preaching, "One love and acceptance for all."
