Najuah
Born in Zimbabwe and Kenya, sisters Hanifa and Juliet of the anthemic rock-inspired R&B sextet Najuah have spent their early childhood absorbing the musical soul of Africa (prior to relocating to London, Ontario, Canada). Motivated by their Ugandan parents to ascertain skills in piano and flute, Hanifa and Juliet had been instilled with a musical knowledge base from a spectrum of sounds from diverse acts as Nirvana and Metallica, all the way to Notorious B.I.G. and Mary J. Blige. Although music was not their original forte, the sisters grew into songwriting and discovered live shows as their calling. Originally borne as a girl group in 2007, the sisters decided they had true passion for performing in front of a live audience. After hooking up with producer Bill Bell (Jason Mraz, Justin Nozuka), the pair felt that they had created the perfect connection with a producer who truly wanted to help them further their career. The sisters' astonished crowds in such revered venues as The Horseshoe Tavern, The Drake Hotel, The Silver Dollar- these shows being booked by indie booking legend Dan Burke ( The White Stripes, Peaches).
