The Red Paintings
Queensland, Australia-based band The Red Paintings has picked up a lot of steam in the past few
weeks not only locally, but also around the world. The band first came to the attention of the
industry after opening for The Dresden Dolls on their US tour. In the past month the band has
opened up for Saul Williams on his Australian tour, garnered airplay in Los Angeles on Indie
103.1FM, Portland's KNRK and most recently on Live105 in San Francisco thanks to the immediate
interest shown by the station's Music Director, Aaron Axelsen. Additionally, the band just
performed a benefit show onboard the Sea Shepherd, an internationally known ship that defends
the waters against illegal Japanese whaling ships. They also collaborated w/the ship's Captain
Paul Watson to record a parody and rather amazing take on the Midnight Oil classic
"Beds Are Burning," titled
"Whales Are Dying."
The aforementioned collaboration and performance has prompted Animal Planet to pursue involvement
with the band. Multiple record labels in the US have already shown interest, as well as some very
well respected independent labels in the UK. All of this has happened without a record label,
publisher and surprisingly without management. The band's album was recently mixed by
Grammy-nominated and Juno Award-winning producer Brandon Friesen and has already received amazing
reviews even prior to its release. More updates on this band will follow in the coming weeks. More
information on the Red Paintings can be found at www.myspace.com/theredpaintings,
or contact their Australian representative at management@redpaintings.com.
The Red Paintings are currently available for signing, licensing, booking, publishing and management worldwide.
