IMAGEM MUSIC SECURES THREE NEW SIGNINGS

Imagem Music, which was recently confirmed as the world’s largest independent music publisher, has announced the signing of three new artists to its roster, including writer/producer Guy Sigsworth, PM Dawn and new Australian rock act Temper Trap,

Guy Sigsworth is the writer/producer best known for his work with Seal, Bjork, Madonna, Imogen Heap, Alanis Morissette, Robyn and more recently Britney Spears. PM Dawn has entered into a long-term administration agreement with Imagem Music, which will see the publisher representing the band’s entire catalogue on a worldwide basis. Temper Trap, who recently signed to former Warner Music Managing Director Korda Marshall’s new label Infectious Records, have confirmed a deal that will allow Imagem Music to work closely with Mushroom Music Publishing on a worldwide basis.

Tim Smith, Managing Director of Imagem Music said, “Guy is a fantastic addition to our roster. Writers of his quality and vision are rare and we are delighted that he has chosen Imagem as his next publishing home. Our A&R team will be working closely with him to introduce him to acts and writers that he may not have considered in the past whilst continuing to maintain relationships with the superstars that love working with him”.

He also added, “The PM Dawn catalogue is filled with hits from ‘Set Adrift On Memory Bliss’ to ‘Reality Used To be a Friend Of Mine’ and songs recorded by Elton John, Shara Nelson and George Michael. We feel that these songs have been hugely underused in the world of synch and that is in area that we will be really focusing on moving forward.”

About Aussie signings Temper Trap Smith says, “Temper Trap are one of the most exciting new bands we have seen or heard in a long time. We are really happy to be working with Korda and his team at Infectious Records and to be partnering with Mushroom Music Publishing globally. The band now has a fantastic team around them and we are confident of great things for them in the future.”

We wanted to work with a company that had a similar focus on service and adding value creatively and have found both in BMG.”

BMG Rights Management CEO Hartwig Masuch added “Having known Robert and his team for a long time, I believe this is a perfect match and will deliver convincing opportunities for ole’s and our writers.”

NEXT TOP HIT TO CREATE GLOBAL CONTEST FOR ARTISTS

Musicians around the world will have the chance to compete for a world tour in a unique new competition organized by social network, Next Top Hit. Nathan Battle, CEO, Next Top Hit announced today an international, people’s choice music competition to be conducted entirely online. Musicians from all genres will be able to upload their music to www.nexttophit.com exposing them to a global audience. The most popular artist will be awarded a tailored, 5 nation world tour. “The competition is our way of giving emerging talent a dream start to their career,” said Battle. “We want to encourage musicians from all genres and languages to signup, upload their content, enter and entertain an international audience that we will provide through our global partners in TV, radio, print and online.”

From July 1st 2009 visitors to the site will be able to upload and sell their unique content and start building a collective fan base, whilst also being able to sample and connect with a wealth of undiscovered music talent from around the world. With the global music competition and voting commencing on October 1st Next Top Hit will invite all artists to get the ball rolling and start building their fan base so that they put their best foot forward in round one of the competition.” Battle says Next Top Hit is a response to some important changes in the music industry.

“With the current shift from physical to digital, it is all about giving artists the ability to cast a wider net and make them accessible. Immediacy, convergence, connection and accessibility to music are the key for indie’s moving forward. The “Record Deal” days are over. It’s all about the digital space, growing your brand and becoming a valuable independent entity,” stated Battle. “Next Top Hit provides a platform where artists control the distribution and marketing of their music.Giving them creative control allows them to take their own direction. It’s now possible for artists to get a much fairer deal for their music. We want to ensure they get more money in their pockets and that they get paid in real time instead of having to wait months for a royalty check.”

Battle concluded, “We also want to give artists a way to stand out from the crowd. There’s so much music available online, it’s hard to find standout talent. By creating an online venue for all musicians and providing an attractive, career changing prize, we’re confident we’ll be able to attract many undiscovered stars from around the world and give music lovers a hub to find great music online. Although we invest significantly in promoting all of our artists, we allow everyone to retain full control over their music. Too often artists have had to swap control for cash and we absolutely want to leave that behind.”
