Warner Music Group (WMG) has made the acquisition of selected assets from live music platform Songkick, which attracts 15 million fans a month. Under the deal are included Songkick's concert discovery app and website, as well as the Songkick trademark. The acquisition also sees some of the Songkick employees involved in running the concert discovery app transitioning to WMG. The deal does not include Songkick’s ticketing business and pending litigation associated with the ticketing business.

Moving forward, the Songkick concert discovery app will operate as a standalone brand, overseen by WEA. The move expands WMG's growing footprint of direct-to-fan destinations and will lead to additional offerings for Songkick users.

Tony Harlow, President, WEA, said, “Fans all over the world trust Songkick to help them find events featuring the artists they love. It’s a passionate, highly engaged music community, always on the lookout for new experiences. Bringing together Songkick's discovery platform and world-class technology with our existing ecommerce expertise and global reach represents a powerful step in strengthening and evolving our direct-to-fan capabilities."

Matt Jones, CEO and Co-Founder of Songkick, said, “Songkick was founded on the promise of improving the live experience for fans and the artists they love. Over the years, we have helped tens of millions find their next great live experience. And today, I’m excited to pass the baton on the discovery service to the great team at WMG, an ideal organization to carry on this mission and to take it in new, innovative directions. And, on behalf of the many artists and fans we’ve served over the last decade, we are committed to continuing our litigation against Live Nation and Ticketmaster independently.”

A joint statement from UMG and the Estate of Prince Rogers Nelson said, “Universal Music Group and the Estate of Prince Rogers Nelson welcome the court's approval of our amicable resolution to this matter. We look forward to continuing to work closely together on Prince's music publishing and merchandise to ensure that we deliver the very best experiences to Prince’s fans around the world.”

Buzzing Finnish chanteuse Katéa, whose musical sounds are often compared to the likes of Amy Winehouse, Adele, Lorde, Florence Welch, Tove Lo and Lana Del Rey due to her dark and husky voice, is one of the most inspiring new female artists to emerge in recent years and is poised for global success. Her music is a unique blend of indie-folk and experimental pop, crafting songs with both piano and guitar-driven tracks topped with bright, yet strong, warm and heartfelt vocals. This amazingly talented singer signed a worldwide publishing deal with BMG Scandinavia and released her debut single in 2015, “That Ain’t Love,” co-written with the Swedish writer/producer team Moneybridge, which earned airplay in a number of countries. Her Louder EP reached the Top 50 most viral songs in Finland, has over 12,000 Shazam tags and has acquired over 1 million streams on Spotify. She has also collected over 3,000 global spins at radio including plays at KROQ Los Angeles, KNDD Seattle, KNRK Portland as well as stations in Ireland, South Africa, Germany, China, Australia, India, among other countries. She’s returned with new music, her first since her debut EP, with the track “Better Now,” which has been played at national radio in Finland and added to several Spotify playlists. Swedish-born, Nashville-based singer/songwriter Andreas Moss has won over many fans in the industry with energetic and powerful performances at SXSW, the iHeart Music Summit alongside Charli XCX and Big Sean, The Great Escape and MUSEXPO Los Angeles. His debut single “Thinking About You” received over one million streams within a month of release, making it into Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist and jumping right onto their Global Viral 50, which has now earned 2.5 million plays to date. Having been described musically as sitting between The Weeknd’s glossy PBR&B and Drake’s electronic excursions, Moss returns with the raw confessional anthem “Stop Me.” The track is an invitation to enter his synth-soaked world of relationships, obsessions and dreams. Squeezing time between collaborations, co-writing and vocal producing with other artists, Moss made time to film a visual for the new track directed by filmmaker Matthew Underwood. Watch the video for “Stop Me” HERE and contact Jono Scarlet jono@mintmusic.co as Andreas Moss is available for writing and synch opportunities.
