Musical talent and social media star Reiley, who hails from the Faroe Islands, has signed a worldwide recording contract with Atlantic Records in the U.S. The deal was formally signed in New York City several few weeks ago and announced by Reiley on his TikTok account this past weekend. Reiley’s music and his management were introduced to Pete Ganbarg, President, A&R, Atlantic Records last year by Sat Bisla, President & Founder, A&R Worldwide.

Reiley Signs With Atlantic Records
Reiley is managed by Chosen Music, which is overseen and run by Alistair Goldsmith (President, Chosen Music), and is a joint venture between Alistair and Professor Jonathan Shalit OBE, Chairman & Founder, InterTalent Rights Group based in London, England.

As of today, Reiley has over 4.8 million followers and almost 50 million likes on TikTok. Reiley is one of the talented new rising new stars of this new decade and continues to build a robust fanbase and engagement within TikTok and his other social media and streaming platforms.

Pete Ganbarg stated, “We are super–excited to have Reiley join us at Atlantic Records. And are very thankful to Sat Bisla and his team [A&R Worldwide] for alerting us to Reiley.” Ganbarg and his team at Atlantic Records had courted Reiley for many months, overcoming some stiff competition from a number of other major labels before his recent signing with them.

Alistair Goldsmith commented, “It’s great to be in business with Atlantic Records – a label that I have long respected. They have an exceptional record of breaking new artists globally and we can’t wait to get started. The label’s passion for Reiley – which exuded from across the business – and reciprocal vision made it a clear decision despite the fierce competition. I am really looking forward to working with Craig, Julie, Pete, Marc and the rest of the team at Atlantic to bring Reiley’s artistic vision and super talent to audiences around the world.”

Professor Jonathan Shalit OBE added, “I loved Reiley’s first stated ambition he had from when we met him – his Instagram simply stated ‘I want to sell out arenas.’ He told me he wanted to play a concert to a crowd of 50,000 people as that is more than the entire population of where we discovered him in the Faroe Islands, which only has 49,290 people. I am excited by his enormously special singing, writing and visual flair.”

The agreement was signed off on December 31st and offers the consortium the option of a further 10% acquisition by January of next year. Additionally, the deal provides for Tencent Music Entertainment to obtain a minority stake in the Chinese subsidiary of UMG. Warner Music and Doğan Music are furthering their artistic partnership with a new deal that will see them working together to build a domestic roster. The move sees the opening of Warner Music Turkey, a new subsidiary that will work alongside Doğan to build the international careers of leading domestic artists and develop a stronger presence for Warner’s international repertoire in Turkey. Heading up the operation is Gülce Özyeşilpınar as General Manager of Warner Music Turkey who reports to Alfonso Perez–Soto, Warner Music’s EVP, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. Özyeşilpınar began her music industry career working for independent label Pasaj Müzik as a production assistant. Three years later she founded Witch Brew Works, which manages all of Warner Music’s marketing operations and accounts in Turkey.

The U.K.’s recorded music market continues to grow as it has now experienced its fifth year in a row of increases for 2019. In data revealed by the BPI and Official Charts Company, consumption for all formats showed an increase in volume of 7.5%, year-upon-year. Over the past 12 months, the equivalent of 153.5 million albums were consumed either via streaming or purchase based on 2019’s AES total. This total marked growth of 5.7% over 2018. Despite the growth for 2019, the year’s totals still fall below numbers from 2006 as the sector is currently coming back from a period of decline. For its own part, the streaming sector saw growth as well with a 26% rise to streaming equivalent albums (SEA) of 26% year–upon–year, marking 74.4% of the total AES. The month of December also recorded the highest weekly total streams ever at 2.7 billion with 2019’s 114 billion total plays across audio streaming platforms marking the first time the 100 billion milestone was crossed in a year. Sales across both physical and digital saw decreases of 22.8% and 28.2%, respectively, year–upon–year. Despite the overall drop in physical sales, vinyl continues its 12–year streak of growth with cassette sales also seeing growth, though remaining only 0.1% of the total consumption of recorded music.

Having experienced a steady decline in users across recent years, 8tracks Founder, David Porter, revealed the service was shuttering as the revenue coming in was not enough to cover compulsory royalty rates.

A few short years ago, Callum Beattie released his debut single, “We Are Stars.” Since then, the Scottish singer–songwriter has collected millions of Spotify streams, earned airplay at BBC Radio 2, and unleashed his well–received EP’s We Are Stars (2017) and Miracle (2018), including the singles “Connection” and “Without You.” From Edinburgh to London to Berlin and back again, Callum’s new material is a collection of songs clawed from the raw stuff of existence, nostalgic patriotism and bleeding–love as his debut album, People Like Us, set to be released in May. Callum has performed at the Hyde Park Summer Sessions supporting Robbie Williams, executed his own headline tour of Scotland, and supported The Kooks on their headline European tour earlier this year along with Blossoms. Callum previously played live at Glastonbury, T In The Park and The Great Escape, and is scheduled to be on the road in Germany, performing in Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin and Munich this year. Earning accolades from the likes of The Telegraph, Clash Magazine and The Independent, Callum was also a part of the global clothing brand Barbour International’s summer session series, which was hosted by James McVey of The Vamps. Experience the latest single from Callum titled “Some Heroes Don’t Wear Capes” HERE and contact manager Rob Swerdlow at robert@starwoodmanagement.com for additional information and all inquiries.

Last year The Rubens traveled to North America, the U.K. and Europe for headline tours, performed and released their MTV Unplugged Live album and wrote new music. In 2018, a landmark year for the band, they released their third album LO LA RU, featuring the singles “Never Ever” featuring Sarah Aarons (2x Platinum) and “Million Man” (Gold), headlined a mammoth tour across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the U.S. as well as supported P!nk on her massive 42–date sell–out arena tour of Australia & New Zealand. The Rubens return with a brand new single, “Live In Life,” an infectious track that blends their signature irresistible choruses with a shadowy undertone. The song, co–produced by the band and Konstantin Kersting (Tones & I, Mallrat), follows a guy over the course of one night as he comes to terms with the gravity of a relationship breakdown. The song has entered the Top 20 Shazam and landed on Spotify’s Hot Hits Australia playlist (1.3 million followers). “Live In Life” follows their last single, “Falling Asleep At The Wheel,” a collaboration with Vic Mensa and is taken from their new album due at the back half of the year. Experience the latest from The Rubens and watch the video for “Live In Life” HERE, and contact Greg Carey at greg@growyourselfup.com, or Matthew Kennedy at matthew@wemanage.com.au, as The Rubens are available for label and publishing opportunities outside of Australia.
