Demob Happy originated as a four-piece in 2008 as they began their garage rock renaissance. Their debut album, 2015’s Dream Soda (SO Recordings), was released to critical acclaim. Now a trio, they delivered their sophomore effort, Holy Doom in 2018. The album was filled with infectious hooks, energy and featured grunge-sounding guitars. Now in 2021, Demob Happy return with new music and a new direction with “Sympathy Boy,” which has garnered global radio support on Passport Approved. The synth-layered single showcases another side to the band’s musicality, as they pave the way into a genre-blurring territory. The song was produced by frontman Matthew Marcantonio and mixed by Dom Craik of Nothing But Thieves. “Sympathy Boy” contains a simple message according to Marcantonio: “Try to be empathic and sympathetic with people and try and connect back to nature.” The UK outfit wrapped up their UK tour in September and opened the main stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals, as well as a triumphant performance at London’s SCALA. Listen to “Sympathy Boy” HERE and contact Adam Greenup at adam@silvascreen.co.uk for all inquiries.
