WARNER CHAPPELL MUSIC AND TIM & DANNY MUSIC
INK GLOBAL PUBLISHING DEAL WITH SAM SMITH
Tim & Danny Music and Warner Chappell Music have signed an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with iconic singer and songwriter Sam Smith through a new joint venture, covering all future works. The multi-Platinum, 4x-Grammy, Brit, Golden Globe and Oscar award-winning global pop star is known for a long list of chart-topping, influential hits such as “Stay With Me,” “I’m Not The Only One,” “Lay Me Down,” “Too Good at Goodbyes,” “Dancing With A Stranger (With Normani),” and more.
This also signifies the first signing to come from Tim & Danny Music and Warner Chappell Music’s new long-term publishing partnership. The two companies have joined forces to identify and nurture top songwriting talent with a focus on the UK and international markets.
Guy Moot, Co-Chair & CEO, Warner Chappell Music said, “Sam is truly one of the world’s greatest talents, as both a captivating performer and inspiring songwriter, and it’s wonderful to be working with them again. I’m also quite thrilled about our new business relationship with Tim and Danny, two of my oldest friends in the music industry and incredible entrepreneurs. They have an outstanding track record, including supporting Sam since the beginning, and I know this is the start of a long and successful partnership.”
Sam Smith added, “I’m so excited to carry on my musical journey with Tim and Danny who have supported me since the beginning of my career, and also really happy to team up with Guy, Carianne [Marshall] and the Warner Chappell family. Looking forward to this next chapter of my career.”
British singer and songwriter Sam Smith gained prominence in the UK after their collaborations with Disclosure on the single, “Latch” in 2012 and Naughty Boy’s UK No. 1 single “La La La” in 2013. Smith’s international career skyrocketed from there with the release of their Capitol Records debut studio album, In the Lonely Hour, in 2014, which included the RIAA Diamond-certified worldwide smash and UK chart-topper, “Stay With Me.” The RIAA 5x multi-Platinum album went on to earn Smith their first Grammy Awards for “Song of the Year” and “Record of the Year,” both for “Stay With Me (Darkchild version),” in addition to “Best Pop Vocal Album” and “Best New Artist.” Smith’s music has amassed over 30 billion streams and sold over 30 million adjusted albums worldwide.

A&R WORLDWIDE’S "ARTIST OF THE WEEK"– DEMOB HAPPY
Demob Happy originated as a four-piece in 2008 as they began their garage rock renaissance. Their debut album, 2015’s Dream Soda (SO Recordings), was released to critical acclaim. Now a trio, they delivered their sophomore effort, Holy Doom in 2018. The album was filled with infectious hooks, energy and featured grunge-sounding guitars. Now in 2021, Demob Happy return with new music and a new direction with “Sympathy Boy,” which has garnered global radio support on Passport Approved. The synth-layered single showcases another side to the band’s musicality, as they pave the way into a genre-blurring territory. The song was produced by frontman Matthew Marcantonio and mixed by Dom Craik of Nothing But Thieves. “Sympathy Boy” contains a simple message according to Marcantonio: “Try to be empathic and sympathetic with people and try and connect back to nature.” The UK outfit wrapped up their UK tour in September and opened the main stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals, as well as a triumphant performance at London’s SCALA.
