Michelle Jubelirer has been promoted to Chair & CEO of Capitol Music Group (CMG), a division of Universal Music Group (UMG). The announcement was made today by UMG Chairman & CEO Sir Lucian Grainge, to whom Jubelirer reports. The highly-regarded executive joined the company in 2013 as Executive Vice President, shortly after its acquisition by UMG. She has served as its COO since 2015, and was additionally promoted to President in 2020.
In her elevated position, Jubelirer is responsible for the overall management and creative direction of the company, which encompasses Capitol Records, Blue Note Records, Astralwerks, Harvest Records, Capitol Christian Music Group and Virgin Music Label and Artist Services. Jubelirer is based in Hollywood, within the company’s iconic Capitol Tower. She will continue to pursue and nurture partnerships with artist and executive entrepreneurs to broaden and strengthen CMG’s connections within the creative community. Jubelirer succeeds Jeff Vaughn who is leaving CMG to pursue new opportunities.
With Jubelirer’s ascension to the top position at CMG, she becomes the first female executive to head the company in its 80-year history. Since joining the CMG in 2013, shortly after UMG’s acquisition of EMI Recorded Music (the historic parent company of Capitol), she has been integral to CMG’s ascension to its stature as one of the world’s leading label groups.

Sir Lucian Grainge said of Jubelirer, “Michelle is a highly experienced executive and inspiring leader who has been integral to the success of Capitol Music Group since we relaunched the company nearly ten years ago. She is a fierce advocate for artists, a savvy deal maker and a hands-on builder of partnerships within the industry and creative communities. Jubelirer was most recently the President and COO of CMG, having joined the company in January, 2013 as Executive Vice President. She has been directly involved in many of the company’s highest profile and competitive signings and associations, including acclaimed artists Halsey, Beck, Maggie Rogers and Toosii, as well as legendary icons Neil Diamond, Barry Gibb and Paul McCartney.


Wise Music Australia (part of the Wise Music Group) has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with renowned songwriter, producer and musical director Paul Beard (AKA Beardy).
Hailing from Shropshire in the UK, Paul’s musical journey has taken him make a name for himself as Musical Director and keyboard player for some of the world’s biggest names in music including Robbie Williams, James Blunt, Bryan Ferry, Leona Lewis and Art Garfunkel. He produced Lily Allen’s cover of the Keane hit “Somewhere Only We Know” which went to No.1 on the UK Singles Charts and was synched in the famous John Lewis Christmas campaign. Beardy has also scored and produced music for short films and TV commercials for several leading global brands including Just Eat, Mars, and Mercedes.

Now based in Sydney after relocating from Los Angeles with his family, Beardy has spent the last 12 months connecting with the local music industry - co-writing, producing and collaborating with Guy Sebastian, Natalie Imbruglia, INXS’s Jon Farriss, Odette, Damien Leith, Sir Jude, Mason Watts, and most recently with Cap Carter on his upcoming EP titled Notes.

Paul is currently wrapping up a collaboration with the acclaimed Richard Tognetti (Artistic Director and lead violinist of the Australian Chamber Orchestra), for a new compositional project slated for a 2022 release, featuring Richard’s wife and ACO principal violinist Satu Vänskä and Midnight Oil’s Jim Moginie.


Mojo Music & Media, a global independent publishing and legacy marketing company, has acquired the complete publishing catalogue of famed Irish songwriter and producer Garret “Jacknife” Lee. The deal, which totals more than 200 songs, features multiple pop, rock and dance chart hits including Juliet’s “Ride The Pain,” Snow Patrol’s “Just Say Yes,” Bonnie McKee’s “American Girl,” Kodaline’s “The One,” The Killer’s “The Man” and Taylor Swift and Gary Lightbody’s “The Last Time,” a single from Taylor’s Red album which is currently topping the global charts in its re-recorded version.
Lee got his start in the mid-90s as guitarist for Irish punk band Compulsion, who charted singles on both sides of the pond, before going on to record a series of well-received solo albums including 1998’s Muy Rico and Punk Rock High Roller in 2001. He segued to record production in a big way in 2004, working on Kasabian’s self-titled debut and beginning his long collaboration with U2 on their acclaimed How To Dismantle An Atom Bomb. He finished the decade as busy as he started it, contributing to Regina Spector’s critically acclaimed Far, Bloc Party’s North American breakthrough A Weekend In The City and The Editors’ Platinum-plus An End Has A Start.

Lee has worked on breakthrough albums by Crystal Castles, Snow Patrol (including multi-Platinum Final Straw and Eyes Open), Kodaline (including chart single “The One”) and REM’s Accelerate and Collapse Into Now. In 2012, he achieved the rare feat of writing and producing a song on each of the year’s two biggest albums: “The Last Time” for Taylor Swift’s Red album and “Something Great” for One Direction’s Midnight Memories, while also contributing to Robbie Williams No.1 album Take The Crown. In 2016, Lee co-wrote and produced two massive alt-rock radio singles, Twin Atlantic’s “No Sleep” and Two Door Cinema Club’s “Are We Ready (Wreck)”. The last few years have seen Lee continue to break creative ground via chart-topping rock records with The Killers and Catfish And The Bottlemen as well as Beth Ditto, Beaches and Elle King, among others.

Lee picked up two Grammy awards and the “Producer Of The Year” honor at the UK’s MMF Awards in 2006 for his work with U2. He was named “International Producer of the Year” by the Music Producer’s Guild in 2018.

Mojo has been actively adding to its roster of songs and songwriters in recent months, signing global publishing deals for the complete catalogues of Dave Wakeling (The Beat and General Public), Al McKay (Earth Wind & Fire) and bluesman Jonny Lang, among others.


International artist management company YMU recently announced the promotion of Chris Dempsey to the position of UK Managing Director. Based in London Chris, whose appointment is effective immediately, will report jointly to Matt Colon, Global President of the company’s music division and Mary Bekhait, Group CEO of YMU.
Chris joined YMU in 2014 as a Director and during his time at the company has overseen the careers of Take That, Gary Barlow, James Arthur, Dan Caplen and Emily Burns among others.

Prior to joining YMU Chris was Sr. Marketing Manager at Sony Music Entertainment working at Columbia and Epic Records with the likes of Manic Street Preachers, Foster The People and Meghan Trainor.

Last week, Warner Chappell Music, announced it had entered into a dynamic publishing partnership with Connection Music Publishing, a newly formed publishing entity – created by Daniel Glass, Founder & CEO, Glassnote. The new company has named Jackie Post, Head Of Publishing.
The pact will bring together Warner Chappell’s global resources with Connection’s independent sensibilities through strategic administration agreements with rising talent and global stars.
Daniel Glass stated, “My long-time friendship and professional relationship with Carianne [Marshall] and Guy [Moot] has now come full circle. We are proud to be working with their stellar team to help our songwriters grow.”

Her debut release is due out next year.

EARLY BELIEF IN DIDO: One of the most successful British female singer/songwriters alongside Adele, Amy Winehouse and others is the world-renowned Dido, who has sold tens of millions of albums globally during her illustrious career. A&R Worldwide Founder Sat Bisla was a very early supporter of Dido (back in 1995), two years prior to her signing her first-ever major label deal in the US, and worked alongside Mel Medalie (Founder, Champion Records) and Dido’s brother Rollo Armstrong in presenting her music to various US A&R executives – she eventually signed with Clive Davis at Arista Records. Sat also gave Dido her first-ever international radio/audio support back in 1995, on his radio show with her very early recordings.


A NEW PAGE AT WARNER MUSIC SOUTH AFRICA: After strong A&R interest from numerous domestic and international labels, the ultra-talented teenage singer/songwriter Tyler Page has signed with Warner Music South Africa with the support of Garth Brown, Creative Lead at the major label. The powerful and dynamic vocalist who hails from Cape Town is managed by Peter Galanakis and Paul Gala from Bad Future, who discovered the teen via social media. Page’s debut single “Don’t Believe The Aliens” was featured on Fortnite for their Underground car radio station and on Spotify’s Radar Africa playlist. Her follow-up single “Kill All The Heroes” reached No.2 on 5FM’s Indie Chart and global support on the tastemaker and influential syndicated Passport Approved radio program with support from Bad Future. Highly respected UK-based music attorney Paul Spraggon (Adele, Dua Lipa) helped represent Page with the deal.

THEY FEEL GOOD: Primary Wave Music announced today their partnership with the estate of “Soul Brother Number ONE,” James Brown. One of the first ten inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Brown’s career began in the mid-50s as lead singer of the Famous Flames. He quickly gained recognition for being an energetic and powerful live performer, and in the 60’s released Live at the Apollo which shot him to super stardom. The album was ranked at 25 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Times, was one of 50 recordings chosen by the Library Of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Over the course of his 50+ year career, Brown recorded 17 singles that reached No 1 on the Billboard R&B charts, he holds the record for most singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and amassed an incredible 98 songs on the Billboard Top 40 R&B singles chart. Primary Wave Music has acquired a stake in Brown’s publishing, master recording income stream, and name and likeness rights. Primary Wave will also continue a partnership with the estate, which will include several projects related to The James Brown 2000 Trust, which was established in 2000 by Mr. Brown for charitable and educational purposes. WARNER MUSIC CHANGES IN MEXICO: The senior management team at Warner Music Mexico (WMM) has unveiled the appointment of Alejo Mejia to VP, A&R Strategy, and an extension of Miguel Vela’s role so that he becomes VP, Marketing & Strategy and General Manager, Central America. Both executives will take up their new roles at the start of 2022, and report to Tomas Rodriguez, Managing Director of WMM. Alejo Mejia has worked at WMM for almost six years, and played a key role in helping develop the careers of huge artists such as Piso 21, Maite Perroni and Mike Bahía. Mejia brings an additional dimension to his new role due to his experience in business development and brand partnerships. He is also the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion champion for WMM, playing a leading role in the company’s social justice campaigns. Miguel Vela is a Warner Music veteran, having first joined the company 20 years ago as a label manager, before moving into a marketing role, overseeing campaigns in Mexico and Central America. In another move, Alejandro Abaroa will be stepping back from his role as A&R Director after more than 15 years. He will continue to work with WMM as a consultant, supporting its campaigns for a number of leading artists. Warner Music Mexico is home to artists including Jesse & Joy, Piso 21, Lagos, Maná, Manuel Medrano, Mijares and Sofia Reyes.

MAKING MORE NOISE: Better Noise Music, has unveiled numerous promotions and hires in preparation for the New Year. Allen Kovac, Founder & CEO, Better Noise Music recently formalized a multi-million dollar catalogue deal with BMG for his management client Mötley Crüe. The company has hired Paris, France-based former Spotify Head of Metal Renaud Doucet as its Managing Director for Europe. Prior to joining Spotify, Doucet was Head Of Rock & Metal at Deezer. In his new role Doucet will oversee streaming growth for Better Noise across France, Central Europe, Scandinavia and the ROW – working closely with Henry Tongue, Director Of Int’l Streaming Strategy, Better Noise. In addition, the label has also tapped former Universal Music / DHX Television executive Paul Cormack as it Managing Director in Canada, whereas he spread the company’s priorities across press, radio, streaming and marketing. Samantha Gable joins Better Noise as its Senior Director, Digital – having spent over a decade at RED and The Orchard, and will work closely with Sean Maxson, VP Marketing. In addition, Better Noise has promoted Victor Lang, GM, GSA (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and elevated Lexie Viklund as A&R Director in GSA.

TAKING ON A GLOBAL ROLE: Veteran music supervisor and executive Tricia Holloway recently took on a new role as Music Executive (Global Head of Music) Walt Disney Imagineering, and will be based at the company’s offices in Glendale, CA. As part of her new position, she’ll spearhead and oversee key aspects internationally for Walt Disney Imagineering as it pertains to music integration and beyond. Most recently Holloway was Vice President Music, Nickelodeon (2019 – 2021), and prior to that was Executive Director Music, FREEFORM (previously ABC Family), and has also held key music licensing roles at Warner Bros. Television, Lionsgate, and others, as well as teaching Music Supervision for Film & TV at UCLA (University Of California Los Angeles).

EUROPE’S LARGEST K-POP FESTIVAL: K-Pop titans Monsta X and (G)I-DLE are the first names announced for Europe’s biggest ever K-Pop festival, KPOP.FLEX. The event will take at Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park on Saturday 14, May 2022, and will attract 44,000 fans to witness some of the world’s biggest K-Pop stars, with five more acts still to be unveiled. The event is being staged by K-Pop Europa, in partnership with PK Events and Korean broadcaster SBS Television Network. K-Pop Europa is a partnership between Live Company Group and Explorado Group. South Korean music is the world’s fastest-growing section in the market (up 44.8% year on year in terms of sales, streaming and paid subscription services); its audience in the US has tripled in as many years, thanks to K-Pop multi-group concerts. KPOP.FLEX, the first event of its kind in Europe, aims to do the same as part of a five-year plan specifically targeting the Continent. KPOP.FLEX will kick off the music season at Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park, which has already sold out three dates for Coldplay and two for Ed Sheeran later in the year. Korean broadcaster SBS will film the festival and create a made-for-TV edit, for screening in Korea after the event. Tickets went on sale on December 10 at www.kpopflex.com.

GETTING IN “SYNC” AT WARNER CHAPPELL: Christine Belden has been appointed to the newly created role of VP, Global Head of Film, TV and Media Music at Warner Chappell Music (WCM). Reporting to Rich Robinson, EVP, Global Sync and Media Original Music, Warner Chappell Music, Belden will oversee acquisitions with a focus on broadcast rights in the film and television industry. This move fills out Robinson’s leadership team and creates a new area of service that will connect Warner Chappell’s songwriters with clients across the filmed media landscape. Belden joins WCM from Kobalt Music where she oversaw creative and strategy for its global film and television music division. While at Kobalt she built its film and television publishing business through her work with A24 Films, Black Label Media, National Geographic, and Millennium Media. She also maintained close relationships with film and TV composers, led the strategic vision for studio driven original music, and secured broadcast rights deals. A former CAA agent, Belden represented both composers and music supervisors while also providing creative music support to the agency’s directors and producers. Based in Los Angeles, Belden started her career under producer Glen Ballard at Java/Capitol Records.

SIGNING WITH HIS PRIMARY CHOICE: Jim Peterik, of The Ides of March, formerly of Survivor and of 38 Special fame, has signed with Primary Wave Music. In a multi-million-dollar deal announced last week, Primary Wave Music has acquired a majority stake in the royalties from the Grammy winner’s entire music publishing catalogue, and rights to many of its legendary songs. Peterik, whose music career spans nearly 50 years and counting, has eighteen top ten credits under his belt. His co-writes include “Burning Heart,” “High On You” and “I Can’t Hold Back.” Other highlights from his extensive catalogue include 38 Special’s platinum hits “Hold On Loosely” and “Caught Up In You”, and a Peterik-penned crown jewel, “Vehicle,” a song he wrote in 1970 while a member of The Ides of March. “Vehicle” appeared on the band’s debut album and shot to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. It went on to be a huge commercial success for the group. Peterik’s multi-platinum “Eye of the Tiger,” with the help of the movie Rocky III, as its theme song, the single spent six weeks at No.1 on the Billboard 100 and would become Survivor’s defining single. The song was nominated for two Grammy awards, winning for “Best Rock Performance” by a Duo or Group in 1982. Read more HERE.

ADDING NEW A&R STRIPES: Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) has unveild the promotion of Lillia Parsa to her new role as Sr. Vice President, A&R. Parsa has worked with a broad and diverse collective of songwriters including Billy Walsh, Brian Lee, Louis Bell, Jimmy Napes, Omer Fedi, Blake Slatkin, Nija, Julia Michaels, Cirkut, Surfaces, Gracie Abrams, and others. Parsa signed writer and producer Louis Bell, a 6x Grammy Award nominee, whose catalogue UMPG acquired earlier this year - Bell has worked extensively with Post Malone, Taylor Swift, Halsey, Miley Cyrus and others. Parsa signed and started developing hitmakers Omer Fedi and Blake Slatkin back in 2020, who’ve earned multiple Billboard Hot 100 No.1 hits. Slatkin and Fedi co-created The Kid Laroi’s single, “Stay” with Justin Bieber, which has been the longest-running No.1 song of the year on Spotify. They also teamed-up to create the No.1 hit singles “Without You” by The Kid Laroi, “Mood” by 24k Goldn feat. Iann Dior, as well as “That’s What I Want” by Lil Nas X. Parsa is based in Santa Monica, CA and will continue to report to both David Gray and Walter Jones, co-Heads Of A&R, UMPG.

ARTIST FIRST & VARIOUS ARTISTS: Italian distribution company and record label Artist First, founded by its CEO Claudio Ferrante, has announced a wide-ranging new agreement with international artist management specialists Various Artists Management. The two companies, who already have close ties, have now joined forces to discover and develop Italian-based artists for the global market. Artist First was launched by Ferrante in 2009 and has 50 employees in Milan. The company works with numerous successful Italian artists alongside a number of high-profile international acts. Artist First also distributes a wide range of labels and has in its own roster, which includes Gazzelle, Fulminacci, Alfa, Dardust and Zero Assoluto among others. The company also has a significant shareholding in 432 Srl, the management company led by Alessandro Fabozzi that represents Italian artists Le Vibrazioni, Francesco Gabbani Mace, Dolcenera and Ana Mena. Various Artists Management, which was founded in 2008, has offices in London and Los Angeles and represents a diverse roster of artists, producers and songwriters including Tom Grennan, Ashnikko, Yonaka, Loyle Carner, Sad Night Dynamite, Supergrass, Barns Courtney, La Roux, and The Libertines among others.

GETTING MORE UNITED: United Talent Agency (UTA) has announced the appointment of Matthew Morgan as its Co-Head of the company’s Nashville, TN office, and has also unveiled a number of new hires. Morgan will work besides Jeffrey Hasson, Co-Head of the agency’s office in Nashville, whereas Hasson has spent the past 13 years at CAA and two years at CMT, and has worked with acts including Lizzo and Zac Brown Band. Also, joining UTA are former WME music agents Buster Phillips, Marissa Smith, and Emily LaRose, who will be reunited their former colleague Scott Clayton, Co-Head, Global Music, UTA. Also, joining the UTA music team is Elisa Vazzana (formerly with CAA) and Emily Wright who joins the firm as a music brands partnership agent. The raft of hirings has accelerated since UTA opened up its Nashville headquarters in June of last year.

A BITCHOS OF A SIGNING: Reservoir Media, Inc. has announced a publishing deal with the pan-continental, instrumental band, Los Bitchos. The London-based quartet hails from across the globe, with each member contributing distinctive musical influences to the group’s self-named genre of “instrumental psychedelic sunshine Cumbia,” a folkloric genre and dance from Colombia. Los Bitchos have been capturing fans and impressing critics with their infectious sound, being dubbed by Ones to Watch as “the party band ready to set your heart ablaze.” Los Bitchos’ latest single, “Good to Go” was released in November alongside a 1970s game show-inspired music video, which continues the storyline laid out in the video for their debut single, “Las Panteras.” Both tracks are off the group’s upcoming debut album Let the Festivities Begin!, produced by Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos and is set for release in February 2022 on City Slang. Los Bitchos also plan to extensively tour in the coming year, performing their danceable, entertaining, and truly unique music for audiences everywhere. The deal was signed with the support of Charlie Pinder, Head Of Creative, Reservoir UK.

DREAMING OF GENIES: Universal Music Group (UMG), and Genies, a leading avatar technology company, have unveiled an expansive global partnership to develop avatars and digital wearables for UMG’s artist roster, building on the companies’ early collaborations to bring recording artists into the metaverse. UMG and Genies will equip artists with official virtual identities for use in Web 3.0 and the shifting age of the internet, providing a persistent virtual representation of themselves across the metaverse to engage with fans in expressive and authentic ways. In addition to virtual activations, UMG’s artists will have the ability to release exclusive avatar wearables for their fans to collect and use to outfit their own avatars in the metaverse. The agreement builds on earlier collaborations to create virtual identities for some of the world’s most influential and successful recording artists including Justin Bieber (Def Jam), J Balvin (Republic), Rihanna (RocNation), Shawn Mendes (Island) and Migos (Quality Control/Motown), among many others.

GOING ADA WITH APPOINTMENTS: ADA Worldwide, Warner Music Group’s independent label and artist services arm, has announced the final additions to its reimagined leadership structure, turbocharging its offering by instating marketing and tech product leads. Sam Juneman joins the company as Head of Marketing & Services and Andrea Slobodien has been named ADA’s first-ever Head of Product & Integration. Both Juneman and Slobodien will be based on the West Coast and report directly to Cat Kreidich, President, ADA. This news follows the recent appointment of Marcus Siskind to Head of U.S., overseeing business development and label management and Adriana Sein to Head of International, focused on ADA’s global business. SWISS GOLD: Swiss pop and soul singer Stefanie Heinzmann was recently awarded a Gold plaque in her native Switzerland for the single “Build A House,” a collaboration with Alle Farben. The single was featured on her hit album All We Need Is Love, released via BMG in 2019. After the sweeping success of her Platinum-certified debut album Masterplan (2008), Stefanie Heinzmann has been honored with numerous accolades throughout her career. Among them are the 1Live Krone, multiple Swiss Music Awards as well as various radio awards. She also took part in successful TV shows such as Sing my Song - Das Tauschkonzert in Germany and Switzerland and The Masked Singer. Over the past years, the Swiss singer has worked with renowned artists, including Rea Garvey, Gentleman, Joss Stone, Lionel Richie, and Ronan Keating. Since March 2021, Undercover and Tina Krug cover all her live activities outside her home country. Her sixth studio album Labyrinth was released in May, followed by the release of the Deluxe Edition on December 3.

CONTINUING WITH AN ANGRY MOB: Angry Mob Music Group, an independent music publisher serving songwriters, composers, artists, and creatives, has extended its worldwide co-publishing deal with LA-based Danish songwriter/producer, mixer, and multi-instrumentalist Rune Westberg. The extension continues his relationship with the Angry Mob Music team and its joint venture partnership with Patrick Conseil’s Pure Pop Music. Having garnered over 350 million streams on Spotify alone, the hitmaker has worked with artists around the world across multiple genres. Westberg is currently in the studio with frequent collaborator Grammy-nominated Blues artist Beth Hart. They co -wrote four songs on her last album produced by Rob Cavallo, War in My Mind (Provogue) that charted in 12 European countries and went Top 20 in Germany (No.6) and UK (No.19). He is also working with emerging artist BAYWUD on a new EP entitled Home, as well as co-wrote the artists’ most recent singles, “Silver & Gold,” “(We Don’t Have) to Walk Alone,” and “Hold On To Me,” which are high on rotation on radio stations in the US. Westberg’s broad discography features hits by Alvaro Soler (“Animal”), Jai Waetford (“Shy”), Daughtry (“No Surprise”), Prince Royce (“Extraordinary”), and more. He’s also worked with a wide array of established and up-and-coming artists, such as Shawn Hook, Colbie Caillat, Jon Bryant, Joe Doe Rooney (of Rascal Flatts), Desi Valentine, Hamish Anderson, Jordan Klassen, Delta Goodrem, Marina Kaye, Kole, and others. Westberg’s songs have been featured in many TV series including Shameless, Suits, Queen Sugar, Valor, American Woman, Grey’s Anatomy, The Rookie, Riverdale, an ABC promo for Pride and Prejudice, as well as in major global advertising campaigns for Adobe and Citroen.

SECURING A DEAL WITH DOWNTOWN: Afro-Cuban French twins Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Diaz, also known as Ibeyi, have signed a worldwide music publishing administration agreement for their back catalogueue and future works with Downtown Music Services. The duo plays a unique blend of Yoruban music fused with modern jazz, pop, soul and hip-hop and are signed to acclaimed independent label XL Recordings, whose founder Richard Russell produced their second album Ash and is at the helm for their new, as-yet-untitled album, which is scheduled for release next year. They released their globally acclaimed, eponymously titled debut album in 2015, which gained them a legion of fans including Beyoncé, Alvin Ailey, JR, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Prince, Roy Hargrove, Adele, and Emicida. Their follow up Ash (2017), which was nominated for the IMPALA “European Album of the Year Award,” saw them receive public praise from Michelle Obama, Kamasi Washington, La Mala and Meshell Ndegeocello among others. The deal was secured with the support of Mike Smith, Global President of Downtown Music Services and Laura Bedikian, Sr. A&R Manager, Downtown Music Services. Ibeyi have just released their latest single “Made of Gold” feat. Pa Salieu, which is receiving international critical acclaim and airplay.

BACK IN BLAKK: Canadian singer/songwriter Forest Blakk recently garnered both Gold and Platinum sales status for his single, “If You Love Her,” within Canada (Platinum) and the US (Gold). The talented singer/songwriter secured his global record deal with Atlantic Records (WMG), first-ever publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing (via P.I.M.P.) and booking agent Paradigm (now Wasser Music), as well as first-ever global radio support thanks to the efforts of A&R Worldwide. In celebration of Blakk’s recent achievements, A&R Worldwide team members who have backed Blakk with both personal and professional support since 2011, when very few believed in him, received IFPI certified Gold-plaques in honorarium of his recent sales and streaming achievements. FEELING INCLUSIVE: Universal Music Group N.V. (UMG) will be included in the Euronext Amsterdam’s AEX Index, effective at the European markets’ opening of trading on December 20, 2021, Euronext announced today. CREATING NEW ROLES: Create Music Group (CMG) the fast growing privately held music and media company in the US, announced today the appointment of two executives that strengthen the company’s team of strategic dealmakers. Yoko Ihaza, Esq., has been appointed Vice President of Legal Affairs and Jason Zerden has been appointed Vice President of Business Development. Ihaza and Zerden are expected to work closely together to expand Create Music Group’s business development capabilities and broaden the company’s capacity to sign a larger volume of deals with artists, labels and other strategic marketing partners. Ihaza will report to Create’s Chief Legal Officer Jon Atzen, while Zerden will report to Create’s Chief Strategy Officer Sameen Singh. Ihaza joins CMG after stints at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and Sklar Kirsh LLP, where she worked on corporate related matters, and also developed a client base of the up-and-coming artists, producers, and managers. Zerden comes to CMG from Stem Disintermedia, where he led business development efforts for over 3 years, working closely with such artists as Jeezy, Zac Brown Band and Desiigner. During his short time at Create he has already struck deals with Snoop Dogg, ssgkobe, and DAVE star GaTa. He has also held positions at Creative Artists Agency, Virgin, and McCann. Both Ihaza and Zerden will be based in CMG’s Hollywood headquarters.

UPPING THEIR PATCH AT BIG LOUD: Big Loud Records has announced the promotion of Patch Culbertson to the new role of Sr. Vice President & General Manager at the label, effective immediately. Culbertson joined the label back in 2017 as Vice President A&R, and in his new role will spearhead day-to-day operations for Big Loud Records, as well as oversee commercial tactics and creative development for the company’s roster. Prior to joining Big Loud Records, Culbertson spent eight years as Director A&R at Republic Records in New York City, whereas he signed and developed acts including Florida Georgia Line, Amine and Somo.

RENEWING MUSICAL VOWS: Sony Music Publishing has renewed an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with renowned Colombian songwriter and artist Keityn. Keityn is one of today’s most in-demand Latin songwriters, recognized for his work on chart-topping hits like “Tusa” by Karol G and Nicki Minaj, “Hawái” by Maluma, and “Agua” by J Balvin and Tainy. Most recently, Keityn earned three No.1 spots on Billboard’s Latin charts with Maluma’s latest single “Sobrio,” as well as “Besame” by Luis Fonsi and Myke Towers, which reached No.1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay last week. Additionally, he made his debut as an artist with his first single “Nueva Versión,” which was released at the end of October, and his latest single “Repeat” ft. Beéle, which was released on December 3. Keityn’s songs have amassed over 4.3 billion streams on Spotify in 2021 thanks to his work on J Balvin’s latest album JOSE. ROUNDHILL LOVES JELLYBEAN: Round Hill Music has announced that its Music Royalty Fund Two vehicle has acquired the music publishing catalogue of legendary producer/writer/musician/music supervisor/music publisher and DJ Jellybean Benitez, which includes worldwide hits by Madonna, Whitney Houston, Snap, Will Smith and Nas among others. The company, which has been working with Benitez since 2020, has also agreed plans for a wide-ranging joint venture agreement. One of the finest remixers and producers during the post-disco days of the 1980s, Jellybean Benitez became immersed in the growing disco scene of the 1970s and soon became one its best-known DJs as well as a sought-after producer and remixer working with a wide range of artists including Olivia Newton-John, Sting, Hall & Oates, George Benson, Bobby O, Sheena Easton, James Ingram, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham, Debbie Harry, a-ha, Michael Jackson, Jennifer Rush, Paul McCartney, and others. In 2005, Benitez was inducted into the Dance Music Hall Of Fame and in 2016 Billboard magazine ranked him in the Top 100 most successful dance artists of all-time. Benitez’s publishing catalogue, which has been built up over the last four decades, includes hits such as Snap “The Power,” Madonna “Holiday,” Nas “Hate Me Now,” Will Smith “Getting Jiggy with It,” Baby Bash “Suga Suga,” Bizarre Inc “I’m Gonna Get You,” Madonna “Dress You Up,” and Whitney Houston “Love Will Save the Day” among many others. As part of this agreement Round Hill Music will assume full responsibility for global administration of the copyrights acquired. In addition, Round Hill and Benitez have agreed a new joint venture deal, which will allow him to sign new talent and acquire further rights with a particular focus on the fast-expanding Latin market.

FEELIN’ IRIE AT WCM: Warner Chappell Music (WCM) has signed legendary record producer and artist Freddie McGregor. The new agreement includes the full catalogue of the innovative reggae entrepreneur and musician whose career has lasted almost 60 years and includes over 40 album releases. Big Ship was the initial label launched by McGregor back in 1983, whereas he produced artists including Papa San & Tiger, Mikey Spice, Lieutenant Stitchie, and Luciano. In the same year, via RAS Records in the US he released the critically acclaimed album Come On Over. McGregor has released multiple albums over the past couple of decades and is currently working on a new full-length album, and recently collaborated with Colombian reggae-fusion rock act Locos Por Juana, and Jah Is On My Mind for the new single, “Don’t Tell Me Know,” which is released via UK label Stingray Records.
