Brandon Silverstein, Founder, S10 Entertainment has unveiled a number of new hires and promotions at his multifaceted music and media firm. Silverstein who manages renowned international acts Normani and Anitta recently announced that he had inked a new film and television partnership for his S10 Films division with Simon Fuller, Founder, XIX Entertainment, and brainchild of the global Idol music TV show franchise.

The company has announced the promotion Jay Cao from his previous role as Creative Director & Manager, S10 to working across the company’s record label, artist management clientele, publishing catalogue and broader ventures.

In addition, S10 has promoted Justin Hunter who has been with the company since 2019 and worked across a number of verticals at the company. His new role will see him overseeing the bridge between key company divisions whilst helping optimize and streamline communication channels at the firm.

Also, the company has elevated its executive Miranda McEvoy who joined S10 back in 2021. Prior to joining S10, McEvoy worked with Evan Spiegel, Co-Founder & CEO, Snap, as well as with the Marc Geiger, former Global Head of Music, WME. She will expand her oversight with the day-to-day operations at the company’s burgeoning multi-sector of activities.

Jessica Roxana, Director Artist Management, S10 spearhead the management of the company’s client Anitta with Silverstein. Prior to joining S10, Roxana had daily management oversight of artists including Diplo, Major Lazer, Silk City and others whilst working at TMWRK Management, and also oversaw back-end and administrative work for Diplo’s record label – Mad Decent.

All four executives will all report to Brandon Silverstein and will work out of the company’s Los Angeles-based headquarters.


Universal Music Greater China (UMGC), a division of Universal Music Group (UMG), has announced that Carol Ding has been appointed to the newly created position of Sr. Vice President & Head of Digital and Commercial at UMGC, effective immediately. Ding will be based in Beijing and will report to Sunny Chang, Chairman & CEO UMGC, and Ulrik Cahn, Executive Vice President, Africa Middle East Asia (AMEA).

Having joined UMG in 2018 as Vice President, Global Digital Strategy of APAC, Ding served as a key member of UMG’s Corporate Digital Strategy team. Ding has played an integral role in the development and implementation of digital strategy and growth in the region, as well as strengthening relationships and partnerships with existing and new Digital Service Provider partners globally and regionally.

A veteran UMG executive in the APAC region, Ms. Ding possesses significant experience within China’s fast-evolving entertainment industry landscape. As a member of UMGC’s senior management team, she will oversee digital and commercial business development and operation in the regional markets, work closely with frontline labels and territories to further expand digital partners’ network while continuing to explore commercial opportunities for UMG’s roster of artists and vast music catalog across Greater China, and beyond.

Ding joined UMG from Condé Nast International, where she led strategic partnership, investment, and acquisitions for China businesses’ transformation from print to digital. Before Condé Nast, Ding oversaw the distribution and marketing of Warner Bros’ 20+ film releases in China, including China’s 1st digital 3D film Journey to the Center of the Earth in 2008.

Over the past 12 months, UMGC became the first major music company to establish multiple frontline labels across China with the launch of Republic Records China, Capitol Records China, EMI China and Polygram China to accelerate A&R investment and development of domestic Chinese talent, with a view to achieve both regional successes, alongside creating new opportunities for artists to reach new global markets beyond Great China.


The yet-to-be officially launched India-based ArtistFirst Technology Inc., company which oversees the music NFT marketplace FanTiger, recently announced that it had raised $5.5 million (USD) in a seed round which is led by Multicoin Capital.

FanTiger is founded by Prashan Agarwal who is the former CEO of Gaana, which is one of India’s largest music streaming services and has a majority stake ownership from Times Internet. The company is also co-Founded by the renowned Indian computer engineer from IIT Kapur, Mr. Krishna Singh.

The FanTiger platform allows its users to buy music NFTs and gain access to earn rewards and privileges such as backstage access, exclusive content and meet and greet opportunities, as well as access to exclusive communities. The company says that artists can use proceeds from the sale of music NFTs on song production and video, song creation, and also share a percentage of the royalty from songs to its fan communities for marketing the song.

FanTiger’s recent round saw investment participation from Woodstock, GAMA, Pravega, Krafton, Gokul Rajaram, Prashant Malik, Miten Sampat, Polygon Studios and its co-Founder Sandeep Nailwal.

From unsigned artists to unknown executives and emerging companies, many have gone on to become very successful and renowned names worldwide. Back in the Spring of 2019, Farhad Zand, Head of Music Partnerships, Europe for TikTok and Director Music Content & Artist Relations Europe, ByteDance stopped by our offices for an in-depth conversation with Sat Bisla, President & Founder, A&R Worldwide on the burgeoning growth of the TikTok platform.


GETTING THEIR PRIMARY STROKE: Primary Wave Music has announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire the music publishing catalog of The Strokes lead singer Julian Casablancas. The multi-million-dollar deal gives Primary Wave Music a key interest in Casablancas’ share of music publishing on all Strokes compositions, and his share of master royalties and master copyrights. The signing includes some of Casablancas’ biggest hits as songwriters and vocalist of The Strokes including the singles “Last Nite,” “Someday,” “Hard To Explain,” and “Reptilia.” Primary Wave has also acquired a stake in Casablancas’ music publishing for The Stroke’s 2021 Grammy-winning full-length The New Abnormal. Under the terms of the deal Casablancas garners access to the Primary Wave’s marketing and branding teams, as well as the publishing infrastructure which includes synch and licensing opportunities.

SOUNDING OFF WITH A NEW LOOK: SoundExchange, today unveiled what it calls “its next generation of solutions to make the business of music easier and fairer” including a new mobile app, look, and website that will serve as a resource for creators, publishers, and digital service providers. SoundExchange supports a growing community of more than 570,000 creators with strategic, tech-forward initiatives, distributing more than $9 billion (USD) since inception. The rollout begins with a new app that enables creators on the go to manage their business and makes it easy for them to track royalty payments they are due. The revamped website and its associated portals will be trusted online resources used by creators to get paid; companies to search, identify, and track music; managers to oversee their clients’ rights and payments; and digital service providers to help fulfill their obligations. The new website and mobile-based app (now available in the app store for Google/Android and Apple/iOS) allow creators registered with SoundExchange and their teams to manage royalty payments from their mobile device. SoundExchange is also launching new digital tools that make it easier to ensure creators are receiving the royalty payments they are due. A Sizzle reel that encompasses the new look and feel is available on YouTube.

DAS GUT – BMG: BMG’s position as the largest independent rival to the three US-based “majors” has been confirmed after new research published by Billboard. The numbers confirm that BMG is the fourth-largest music publisher in the world, behind first-placed Sony Music Publishing, Universal Music Publishing, and Warner-Chappell Music Publishing. In records, it is fourth-largest behind first-placed Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, and Warner Recorded Music. BMG is the only Top 20 European-based recordings company. BMG is an integrated music publishing and recordings company. To give a sense of the scale of its US operation, based on Billboard numbers, BMG’s combined US revenues in the US now exceed those of renowned US labels Epic, 300 Entertainment, and Arista combined. The news comes just weeks after BMG confirmed its U.S. leadership team of repertoire chiefs Thomas Scherer, President, Repertoire & Marketing, Los Angeles and New York, and Jon Loba, President, BMG Nashville, together with Joe Gillen, CFO.

WARNER RECORDS INKS GLOBAL K-POP: Warner Records has signed a global partnership with the South Korean quartet Aespa and SM Entertainment. The band has over four million monthly Spotify listeners and have been named as Apple Music’s latest global Up Next artist. The new deal kicks-off with the release of the K-Pop group’s single, “Life’s Too Short,” which comes out on June 24th, followed by their second mini album Girls, to be released in July. SM Entertainment which was founded in 1995 by Lee Soo-man, is Korea’s largest entertainment company and has developed the careers of many K-Pop stars before working with Aespa.

JUST A GENT SIGNS WITH ANGRY MOB: Angry Mob Music Group, an independent music publisher serving songwriters, composers, artists, and creatives, has concluded a worldwide administration deal with Australian electronic artist and producer Just A Gent (aka Jacob Grant). Since he burst on the scene in 2016, Just A Gent has amassed a strong global following with support from some of the biggest names in electronic music, including Skrillex, Diplo, Dillon Francis, What So Not, and others. His catalog of original works and signature remixes has garnered over 300 million streams with hits such as “Limelight (NGHTMRE Remix),” “Rolling Dice,” “The Change (Feat. DMA’S) [Remix],” “Iris in the Dark,” and many more. Having built a robust following from live performances and the release of multiple groundbreaking EPs including http://EP, AUTOPILOT, Tulips (Remixes), and Urca, Just A Gent recently released his first full-length album project Planet Oasis, which features collaborations with Samsaruh, Sammi Constantine, Lani Rose, SAYAH, Jacknife, Greta Stanley, SADBOii, and Arno Faraji.

CEO TRAYLE PARTNERS WITH 10K PROJECTS: 10K Projects has announced the signing of CEO Trayle through 1080 Trademark Records / Do What You Love Records. The Bronx-bred, Atlanta-based rap star has carved out a sizable fan base with his steely street raps. To mark the partnership, Trayle has released his new mixtape titled The Collection. Trayle’s latest release includes production from MoneyMusik and Ambezza. In 2020, Trayle consummated his rise with “Ok Cool,” a trap tune that has earned 60 million streams worldwide. He has built his profile further after a Rolling Loud performance last summer, and with the release of Happy Halloween C4.

GETTING SOME LATIN FLAVOR AT APPLE: Former Warner Music Group’s Managing Director, ADA Latin America & Iberia Juan Paz has been tapped as Global Head of Latin Music Business, Apple Music. Paz will help spearhead the tech giant’s continued growth in Latin America, which has seen unprecedented digital and streaming growth in the past few years, and continues to be one of the fastest growing music consumption markets in the world. Last month alone, Latin Music secured it largest ever week (period ending May 13th) for streams worldwide on Apple Music. Prior to joining ADA back in 2020, Paz led the launch of the Digital Marketing & Consumer Insights department at EMI Latin America. In addition, as an artist manager in the past he’s worked with artists including Javiera Mena, Eduardo Cabra, Bomba Estéreo, Monsieur Periné, Nanpa Básico, and others.

WARNER MUSIC NASHVILLE NAMES CO-PRESIDENTS: Warner Music Nashville (WMN) has announced the promotions of former Executive VP & General Manager, Ben Kline, and Executive VP of A&R, Chris Lacy to the positions of Co-Presidents of the country division of Warner Recorded Music. John Esposito, Chairman & CEO will remain in his role through the end of the year and will transition to Chairman Emeritus at the beginning of 2023. Kline joined WMN in 2014 as VP of Revenue. In 2017, he was named Sr. VP of Global Revenue & Touring and was then elevated to Executive VP/General Manager where he oversaw radio & streaming, artist development, touring, and international. Lacy joined WMN in 2005, following positions at Tom Collins Music Publishing, Rick Hall/FAME Publishing, Island Bound Music, and Warner Music Group’s Warner Chappell Music. At WMN, she was upped to Sr. VP of A&R in 2017 and Executive VP of A&R two years later.

VRJAM, VROOMS WITH ITS NFT PLATFORM: VRJAM, a multiverse platform for live entertainment, has unveiled the first artists to join its Creator Guild. VRJAM will offer live virtual reality and interactive content across streaming platforms, websites, VR and mobile devices powered by blockchain technology. The Creator Guild - a community of premium content creators - will be comprised of artists, gamers, labels, and performers who will create next generation digital and immersive experiences within the VRJAM virtual world. These will include concerts, live entertainment events, performances and much more. The first names to join the Creator Guild include DJs and producers such as Junior Sanchez, Darren Styles, UMEK, Gammer, Roger Sanchez, Bushwacka, J. Worra, DJ Sneak, Audiofly, Stanton Warriors, Yogetsu Akasaka, Sydney Blu, DJ Colette and DJ Eliza May. VRJAM aims to sign up 300 members to its Creator Guild in the coming months.

NIGERIAN AFROBEATS STAR SIGNS TO KOBALT: Kobalt has announced that it has signed Omah Lay to a worldwide publishing administration agreement, including global sync and creative services for his catalog and future songs. Omah Lay is a 25-year-old Afrobeat artist originally from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. He began making music as a part of a teenage rap group and went by the name Lil King. In 2020, Apple Music chose Lay as the debut cover start for its new project, Africa Rising, which showcases emerging African music. Omay Lay was signed to Sire Records (a division of Warner Records) by A&R executive Preston Rodie several years ago.

SPINNIN’ TO VP OF MARKETING: Spinnin’ Records has named Susanne Hazendonk as VP of Marketing as part of the restructuring of its marketing department and expansion of Web3 and NFTs as key spaces for the company’s future growth. In her new role, Hazendonk will oversee the merging of the existing separate Brand and Recording marketing teams. Clyde Davis Head of Digital; Julian Vicari, Head of Marketing & Socials; Jeroen Linnenbank, Head of Promo; Lesley Quist, Head of Creative and streaming specialists representing Spinnin’ Records internationally, including Tim Condran, Marketing Director, UK, Sivan Liu Streaming Director, US, and Crysal Du, Marketing Specialist, China, will all be reporting to Hazendonk. Spinnin’ Records is also increasing its investment into Web3 and NFT business development, spearheaded by the launch of Tiësto’s first ever NFT project.

“TAYLORED” FOR A NEW PROMOTION: Republic Records recently confirmed that it has promoted Taylor Vaughn to the new role of Vice President, Media, whereas she’ll report to the New York City-based Joseph Carozza, Executive VP of Media & Artist Relations. The label says that Vaughn “enacts 360-degree media and publicity campaigns” for artists including BENEE, Glass Animals, Greta Van Fleet, BoyWithUke, Conan Gray, James Bay, Lord Huron, and Stephen Sanchez. She’s also worked with additional artists on the label’s roster including Jack Johnson, Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder, and John Mellencamp. Prior to joining the Republic Records in 2014, Vaughn spent three years at Epic Records, and currently serves on Republic Records Action Committee (R2AC) and is a mentor for She Is The Music. Vaughn will be based out of the company’s Santa Monica, CA-based offices.

SHE’S A PEOPLE’S PERSON: Former Fuse TV and AMC NetworksIFC TV executive Jennifer Caserta has been appointed to the new role as Head of People at SoundCloud. In her new position, Caserta will help enhance and promote people practices, oversee internal communication, spearhead leadership and development and oversee communications internally within the company, as well as management of employee branding for hundreds of staff at SoundCloud worldwide. She will also be responsible for developing and executing strategy for the company’s human resources, and oversight across the overall direction of the business at the company. Caserta will report to Drew Wilson, CFO & COO, SoundCloud, and Michael Weissman, CEO, SoundCloud.

LIVE NATION UNVEILS A NEW FABLE: Live Nation, recently unveiled that its Asian electronic dance music division, Live Nation Electronic Asia (LNEA), had entered into a multi-year global licensing and distribution agreement for its recently launched Fabled Records label. Dedicated to supporting the next generation of Chinese electronic music and artists, LNEA is partnering with global dance label Astralwerks and Capitol Records China (CRC), both divisions of Universal Music Group (UMG). Under this new agreement, Astralwerks and Capitol Records China will collaborate on the global release and distribution of Fabled Records artists and projects globally. Through this bespoke and innovative label partnership, Fabled Records and LNEA will enjoy direct access to a collective pool of UMG’s international divisions, with global marketing support led domestically by Capitol Records China, and internationally by the team at Astralwerks. MARK OWEN SIGNS GLOBAL DEAL WITH BMG: Multi-Platinum superstar Mark Owen has signed a brand-new wide-ranging global deal with BMG. The agreement includes his new recordings to the publishing of future solo works, and songs written with Take That. Owen, who as part of Take That sold over 45 million albums worldwide, followed by a successful career as a solo artist, released his new single, “You Only Want Me,” on May 19. The track is the first taster of his first solo record in almost a decade, Land Of Dreams, which is set for release on September 23 via BMG. “You Only Want Me’” was written by Mark Owen and BMG songwriter Will Bloomfield (The Vaccines, Freya Ridings, Tom Grennan, Holly Humberstone), and was produced by Jennifer Decilveo (Miley Cyrus, Marina, Anne-Marie, Demi Lovato). Owen has also announced a short UK run of tour dates, visiting Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, and London. The Land of Dreams tour kicks off in Bristol on October 16.

SNAPPING A NEW ROLE AT SNAPCHAT: Former Warner Music Group (WMG) Manager, Artist Development & Touring, executive Maaliq Joseph has been “snapped” as Manager of Music Artists Partnerships, Snapchat and will serve on its Talent Partnerships team. Whilst at WMG Joseph worked with artists including Earl Sweatshirt, Erica Banks, Omah Lay, Saweetie, Isaiah Rashad, Wale, NLE Choppa and others. In his new position, Joseph will assist in managing and developing relationships with artists on the Snapchat ecosystem and support strategic content opportunities, and will report to Francis Roberts, Head of Creator Partnerships, Snap. The company says the hiring is a part of its ongoing commitment to supporting artists and the international music industry.

ADAPTING A NEW DEAL WITH SONGTRUST: Feed Media Group, the B2B music licensing subscription service, has announced that it has signed a music licensing deal with music publisher Songtrust to begin sharing songs from its catalog with Adaptr, which is Feed’s subscription-based platform that makes it easy for startups to use music. The deal is expected to unlock access to Songtrust’s enormous catalog of more than 3 million songs. Adaptr has the largest pre-cleared music catalog for growth stage businesses in the US. Under the terms of the new agreement, songs for which Songtrust administers publishing services can now be made available through Adaptr.

BLACK RIVER FLOWS INTO SMPN: Sony Music Publishing Nashville (SMPN) and Black River Publishing recently announced they had signed a worldwide publishing administration deal. With the partnership, SMPN will provide its global services to Black River’s publishing catalog, covering award-winning songs by country superstar Kelsea Ballerini, and artist-writers MaRynn Taylor, Josiah Siska, Anna Vaus, and Abby Anderson. In addition, providing services to Black River Publishing’s hitmakers including Jacob Davis, Doug Johnson, Hannah Kerr, Forest Glen Whitehead, and GRAMMY-winning songwriter Josh Osborne, and others. Since its inception twelve years ago, Black River Publishing and its roster have achieved numerous awards and accolades, including 30 No.1 songs and multiple GRAMMY awards – one for Best Country Song with Kacey Musgraves’ “Merry Go ‘Round” (2013) and one for Best Contemporary Christian Performance/Song for KING & COUNTRY’s “God Only Knows” (2019).

With 2019s debut EP Girl I Know, Baker Grace emerged as an artist with undeniable confidence.
