Sony Music Publishing UK (SMP) today announced the signing of GRAMMY award-winning artist, songwriter, producer, and composer Danger Mouse to a worldwide publishing agreement.
Brian Burton, aka Danger Mouse, is widely recognized as one of music’s most significant and versatile artists. His projects have spanned across a diverse range of styles – from the groundbreaking pop/hip-hop fusion of Gnarls Barkley, including the 2006 smash hit “Crazy” and GRAMMY-winning album St. Elsewhere – to his renowned indie duo Broken Bells and their self-titled gold-certified debut, featuring “The High Road” and “The Ghost Inside.”

In the last several years, Danger Mouse has directed his focus toward his work as a producer, where he has continued to transcend genres and expand his global reach. He quickly amassed an expansive list of collaborators including Beck, Gorillaz, Black Keys, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, A$AP Rocky, Norah Jones and Adele, whose 2017 album 25 earned him another GRAMMY award. Among his many accolades, he has achieved twenty-four GRAMMY nominations, six GRAMMY wins, two Golden Globe nominations and a Golden Globe win for “Best Original Song.”

Recently, Danger Mouse and The ShinsJames Mercer announced the revival of their duo Broken Bells with a new song “We’re Not in Orbit Yet...” from their upcoming album Into The Blue. Danger Mouse also announced a new collaborative album with The RootsBlack Thought entitled Cheat Codes, featuring new singles “Aquamarine” with Michael Kiwanuka, “Because” with Joey Bada$$, Russ, and Dylan Cartlidge, as well as “No Gold Teeth.” Set for release on August 12, the album also includes appearances by Run the Jewels, A$AP Rocky, Raekwon, Conway the Machine, and the late MF Doom.


Indie, electro-pop singer/songwriter tiLLie has signed a worldwide deal with Seeker Music, which is a record label, publisher, management and synch firm, which was founded back in 2020 by publisher, music executive, film and TV producer, and award-winning global hit songwriter, Evan Bogart (Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Liam Payne, and more) who is the Founder & CEO of the company.
Tillie grew up in Atlanta, GA as a singer/songwriter and also performed local basement shows with her punk band. She then went on to study briefly at the Clive Davis Institute at New York University (NYU) and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue her musical dreams.

The deal which was announced last week sees the young talent inking a worldwide music publishing deal with the multi-faceted music firm, which has its headquarters in Los Angeles, as well as boots on the ground in London, New York and across Europe.

Her talent also impressed the likes of Machine Gun Kelly very early on (back in 2016) who after seeing her perform asked her to perform a cover version of the Foo Fighters hits single, “Everlong,” at his show. Also attending that serendipitous show was Kevin Lyman, Founder, Vans Warped Tour who invited her to join their 2017 summer festival, which became tiLLie’s first-ever tour. Seeker Music has been adding various members to its creative and executive team, as well as signing a number of talented artists and songwriters with more new signings to be unveiled soon.


Tyler Bacon, President & CEO, Position Music – the Burbank, CA-based burgeoning independent sync licensing company, label and publisher has announced the signing of Boston-based alternative hip-hop artist Layto to its expanding record label roster. Layto initially signed a publishing deal with Position Music back in 2021.

Less U Know” ft. Ryan Oakes continues on a string of successful releases for the Boston-raised artist. Prior to this single, Layto dropped “Lost It” with popular TikTok musician Jaymmac (2.2M followers). In 2020 he released his popular hit “Houndin,” complete with two unique follow-ups in “Houndin Pt. II” Ft. AViVA and a special live string version arranged by Johan Lenox (070 Shake, Ty Dolla $ign, X Ambassadors, FINNEAS). Together, the three “Houndin” versions have over 75 million total streams worldwide.

Layto will hit the road in October for four dates with stops in Washington D.C., New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. Tickets for New York and Philadelphia are on sale now. The rising artist released his latest single “Less U Know” featuring the inimitable Ryan Oakes on July 15th.


MUSIC, the investment company launched by Matt Pincus and LionTree earlier this year, has named Sun-Ui Yum as a Principal at the company. In this newly created role, Yum will report directly to Pincus, helping to identify and negotiate investment opportunities for MUSIC, which is a partnership between Pincus, LionTree, JS Capital Management and Schusterman Family Investments and was capitalized with $200 million (USD) in April 2022.

Prior to joining MUSIC, Sun-Ui served as an investor and advisor on the core music coverage team at the Raine Group, a media and entertainment merchant bank. He worked on such key deals as Raine’s investment in SoundCloud and Downtown Music Publishing’s sale to Concord, among several other advisory deals in the music space.

“It’s been a lifelong career objective to merge my personal and professional passions for music. A platform as nimble and flexible as MUSIC was the perfect opportunity to pursue that intersection,” said Sun-Ui. “I look forward to working closely with Matt to close several new deals and help support the next generation of great music businesses.”

Sun-Ui has also previously worked as a freelance music journalist and critic, interviewing such artists as Juice WRLD, Offset, SAINt JHn and others. He graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a degree in economics in 2018.


Geffen Records has announced that Aaron “Dash” Sherrod has been named President of Urban A&R at the company. In his new role, Dash will oversee the signing and development of artists on the Geffen urban roster.

The newly created role marks a return of the veteran creative executive to the Interscope Geffen A&M family. He was previously Vice President of A&R at Interscope, joining the company in 2015.

During his tenure at the label, he signed Playboi Carti, Juice WRLD, and Pierre Bourne. He most recently served as Sr. Vice President of A&R at RCA Records, where he signed Nardo Wick and was Executive Producer of the original soundtrack album for the acclaimed film JUDAS AND THE BLACK MESSIAH, which won the 2021 Academy Award for “Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song)” for H.E.R.’s “Fight For You.”

Earlier in his career, alongside such artists as 808 Mafia, DJ Toomp, Lil Bibby, G Herbo, ASAP Rocky and others, Dash worked as a composer and engineer, a video director, a manager and more, giving the executive a broad background of knowledge that has served him well as he shepherds his projects through the major label system.

Dash will be based at Geffen Records headquarters in Santa Monica, CA.

YOU NEVER KNOW WHO’S IN THE ROOM: A&R Worldwide’s annual global music business conference and showcase event MUSEXPO has brought together some of the most inspiring and influential minds in music pop culture since its launch back in 2005. A couple of years ago Coldplay’s lead singer and songwriter Chris Martin showed up at the event to watch some of the unsigned talent at MUSEXPO. Ironically, Coldplay’s worldwide manager Dave Holmes played a key role in helping start the A&R networking dinner events with A&R Worldwide Founder, Sat Bisla back in 1999, which evolved to become what is now MUSEXPO. NEW SENIOR A&R STRIPES AT EMI: As hinted in the A&R Worldwide newsletter several weeks ago, Rich Castillo, A&R Director, Atlantic Records in London, England will be heading back to Universal Music Group in a key new senior A&R role at EMI Records, which is the UK’s largest record label based on current market share. Sat Bisla, President & Founder, A&R Worldwide had met with Castillo in London early last month, whereas he had learned about Castillo’s impending departure from his conversation with the executive. Castillo’s new role officially commences in 2023, whereas he will report to Rebecca Allen and Jo Charrington, co-Presidents EMI Records. Castillo had previously held A&R roles at Universal Music Canada (2014-2016) and Universal’s Polydor Records (2016 – 2019) and also worked at Sony Music Publishing (2019 – 2020) before joining Atlantic Records in 2020. Castillo got his early break in the music business working at Professor Jonathan Shalit OBE’s London-based management firm Shalit Global (today known as InterTalent Rights Group) where he helped with the development and launch of the multi-Platinum selling UK act N-Dubz amongst others.

MILK & HONEY + 2 = ROMDROPS: Milk & Honey Music + Sports + Ventures, Producer Oak Felder, and Romanian entertainment company HaHaHa Production has announced the formation of their new joint venture Romdrops, a publishing and production company created to expand global opportunities for artists, producers, and songwriters throughout the world. Romdrops was born when The Invitational Group, Milk and Honey & HaHaHa Production hosted one of their songwriters retreats at a 16th century castle in Transylvania, attended by a cadre of songwriters, and producers including Oak Felder, Sebastian Kole, Wayne Hector, and Orla Garland amongst others. After a number of songs were written (including the single “Amen,” from Tom Grennan’s No.1 UK album) Felder, Peter Coquillard (Milk & Honey’s Head of International), and HaHaHa Production’s principal Smiley decided to form an alliance and sealed the deal (with a full moon shining bright) at a private dinner at Castle Bran commonly referred to as Dracula’s Castle.

LEAVING HIS A&R ROLE: A&R Worldwide has learned that Tjark Hartwig has left his A&R role at Sony Music Entertainment/Columbia Records in Berlin, Germany to pursue new opportunities. Hartwig tells A&R Worldwide, “I want to let you know that I have decided to leave Sony Music. Having spent the past five years at Sony has been a valuable period of my life, and I’m grateful to have been in touch and working with you during that time. I’m excited about the new chapter ahead of me and I’m sure we’re going to meet again soon.” A&R Worldwide has learned that Hartwig is currently exploring new opportunities but has not made a formal decision on his next move. Prior to joining Sony Music and its subsidiary Four Music, Hartwig worked at Google in their music streaming marketing strategies department. He also spent a year (2016 – 2017) at the burgeoning independent tastemaker music company, Humming Records, where he was involved with international business development and label management. He also ran his own talent firm, Chapter Management from 2014 – 2017.

TAP SIGNS GRAMMY-WINNING PRODUCER & MIXER: TaP Music has announced Grammy-winning producer and mixer Rich Costey as the newest signing to their roster. Costey will be managed by TaP’s René Symonds. Costey has worked with a diverse collection of compelling artists across genre over the course of his two-decade career, from indie darlings to mainstream superstars, including Foo Fighters, Charli XCX, The Killers, HAIM, Keith Urban, My Chemical Romance, Major Lazer, Snoop Dog, Muse, Death Cab For Cutie, Sam Fender, and many more. Costey joins a TaP Music roster that also includes Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding, Noah Cyrus, CL, Dermot Kennedy, Caroline Polachek, and many others.

MUSIIO LEADS SOUNDCLOUD’S UK EXPANSION: Musiio by SoundCloud has signed a deal with West One Music Group, the British global production company. This deal comes as SoundCloud expands its presence in the UK with Musiio leading those efforts on the ground. Musiio was founded in 2018 and utilizes AI technology that listens to audio files one by one to provide metadata to the catalogue including genre, mood, key, bpm, energy, and more with a 90% accuracy rate. West One Music’s entre catalogue will be streamlined and easy to digest for their clients including Disney, Netflix, Paramount+, and Warner Media. Musiio will automate tagging of West One Music’s entire catalogue of over 80,000 tracks using AI technology.

WARNER MUSIC CHINA SIGNS A “G.E.M.”: Warner Music China has announced that it is partnering with G.E.M., one of the biggest superstars in Greater China, to release her new album exclusively. This agreement will bring the singer’s music to the global stage, with Warner Music’s marketing expertise and creative strategies supporting the growth and advancement of her career. One of China’s top-selling female artists, G.E.M. made her debut on the Hong Kong music scene in 2008 at the of age 16. Having dominated the charts and award ceremonies in the region, she went on to shoot to superstardom in China in 2014 after participating in I Am A Singer (Season 2), an iconic singing competition open only to well-known professional singers on the media outlet Hunan Television. G.E.M. will work with Warner Music to amplify her global music career, starting with the exclusive release of her new album Revelation, which would be available in both physical and digital formats.

GETTING CREATIVE AT CREATE MUSIC GROUP: Create Music Group, has announced that it has named industry veteran Chris Herche to the newly created position of Sr. Vice President, Music Operations & Marketing at the company. In his new role Herche will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company’s music division which distributes and markets more than 25,000 artists and 5,000 label clients around the world. Herche joins Create Music Group from Cinematic Music Group, where he was Chief Marketing Officer, leading the company’s marketing strategy for the past five years, helping to drive the company’s dramatic growth. Previously he served in a number of positions at Entertainment One, rising to Vice President of Digital Marketing and A&R. He began his career two decades ago at RCA Records where he served in various positions, Product Manager, Head of Tour Marketing and Digital Product Manager. Since 2011 he has also run his own independent record label, Vicarious Records, a company which started as a marketing firm and shifted into a record label focused on artists from the Cincinnati/Kentucky area.

12 MILLION ROUND FOR SOCIAL AUDIO PLATFORM: Stationhead, the social music platform that allows users to create “global stations in seconds”, has closed a $12 million Series A financing round lead by Buttonwood Group Advisors. The startup has secured investments from music industry backers such as Red Light Management, Craig Kallman and Julie Greenwald (Chairman & CEO and Chairman & COO at Atlantic Records respectively), TMWRK, Round Hill Publishing, Avex Entertainment, Kevin Liles (Co-Founder & CEO 300 Entertainment), Jason Flom (Founder & CEO, Lava Records), and DJ, songwriter and producer, Diplo. Stationhead uses patented technology to let users stream music directly from the Apple Music and Spotify counts while avoiding any risk of copyright infringement. So far, artists BTS, Imagine Dragons, and Cardi B have launched stations on the platform.

SONY MUSIC TO ’SIGN ARABIC SUPERSTARS’: Sony Music Entertainment Middle East and Egypt-based Craft Media have entered an exclusive partnership to sign, produce, and promote Arabic Artists and music across the Middle East. Craft Media is a Cairo-based music and event production company that was founded by Arabic producer Hamdy Badr who is the manager of Egyptian artist Hamaki. Sony Music Middle East has also signed an exclusive recording, licensing, and distribution agreement with Hamaki in the last year, becoming the first international record label the artist has ever signed to. In addition to Hamaki, Craft Media is behind stars like Maya Diab, Pousi and Mahmoud Al Lethy.

NEW CEO FOR SCOTTISH MUSIC: The Scottish Music Industy Associated (SMIA) has appointed Ronnie Gurr to the role of CEO, effective immediately. Gurr is a former journalist and music consultant who has been in the music business since the 1970s. Additionally, he has worked as an A&R manager with artists such as Simple Minds, The Blue Nile, Danny Wilson, and more. He has been involved in artist and event management, television, and radio production before being appointed A&R director of Sony Music’s Columbia label where he signed and worked with artists such as Michael Ball and Cypress Hill. In his new role, Gurr will lead SMIA’s executive team and work with the company’s board to support Scotland’s music industry following the Covid-19 pandemic while championing and developing artists, music, and diverse network of industry professionals working across Scotland.

GOING DIGITAL AT WARNER CHAPPELL MUSIC: Andrew Ludwick has been promoted to Vice President of Business Development, Digital for Warner Chappell Music (WCM). In this new role, he’ll work directly with major technology partners and outside counsel in the digital space, acting as the commercial lead to close licensing agreements. In addition, he’ll oversee business opportunities in developing markets and will partner with the company’s finance, administration, and operations teams to ensure cohesion across WCM’s digital supply chain. Ludwick will report to WCM’s Senior Vice President of Global Digital, Natalie Madaj. Ludwick has spent nearly a decade with Warner Music Group (WMG), having started at Warner Records before taking on a position in emerging media licensing for WMG’s Sync division. Most recently, he served as Director of Digital Innovation for WCM, where he spent the past several years working with technology companies like Peloton, Snap, and TikTok to close company-first deals and create new revenue drivers.

THE 2023 GRAMMY AWARDS: The Grammy Awards will return to Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles for the first time in three years. The 65th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023. This is the first February airdate in four years. The 2020 show was moved to January 26th to avoid competing with The Oscars, the 2021 show was held in March, and the 2022 show was held in due to the pandemic. This will be the show’s 20th time at Crypto.com Arena (previously known as the Staples Center), the site of all but four Grammy telecasts since 2000. Nominations will be announced on Tuesday, November 15th and the 65th Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on CBS and steam live and on demand on Paramount+.

SECURING THEIR GOLD: Leonidas Chantzaras, Director A&R, Polydor/Island at Universal Music Group in Germany tells A&R Worldwide that he’s excited to announce the official Gold awards recognition for his company’s signing Glockenbach. Glockenbach featuring ClockClock have enjoyed success across Germany with the hit single, “Redlight,” which has racked-up millions of streams across all digital and social media platforms. Chantzaras stated, “Since we started working together it’s been an ongoing success story. It was good to see everyone involved being rewarded [with their Gold-plaques]. Congratulations to Team WeFor, Glockenbach, ClockClock and everyone at Universal Music Germany.” The awards presentation took place on the rooftop balcony at the company’s Berlin-based headquarters last week.

AN ULTRA NEW STUDIO COMPLEX: Ultra Music Publishing (Ultra), the independent publisher of Electronic Dance Music, Pop, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Reggae has announced the launch of a new studio complex in Liverpool, which will serve the songwriters and musicians it represents, as well as those signed to its sister labels Helix and Payday Records. It will also serve as a hub for new talent discovery and development in the North of England with the Ultra Music Publishing, Helix Records and Payday Records teams in London and Liverpool using the studios as a valuable A&R resource. Ultra Studios Liverpool is the latest in an expanding global network, which now offers recording facilities in Los Angeles (Santa Monica and Hollywood,) London, Stockholm, and Atlanta. The new studio in Liverpool is situated within the Camp & Furnace nightlife complex in the Baltic Arts district and will offer a state-of-the-art recording environment with access to the latest technology and a range of writing and live rooms.

HITTING HER “MOJO” WITH A NEW DEAL: MOJO Music & Media, a global independent publishing and legacy marketing company, has acquired the songwriter rights and co-publishing interests of acclaimed songwriter Sharon Vaughn. The deal with Vaughn spans 25 years of the prolific songwriter’s work and brings 28 Country chart singles released between 1977 and 2004 including such standards as Willie Nelson’s “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys,” Waylon Jennings’ “Broken Promise Land” and The Oak Ridge Boys’ breakout single “Y’All Come Back Saloon.” Also included are such Top 10 hits as Reba McEntire’s “I’m Not That Lonely Yet,” Patty Loveless’ “Lonely Too Long,” Randy Travis’ “Out of My Bones” and Trisha Yearwood’s “Powerful Thing.” The Vaughn deal follows a series of major acquisitions Mojo concluded over the last year with some of Country music’s most respected songwriters including Bob Morrison, the Estate of Jerry Reed, Terry McBride, Tom Shapiro, George Teren and Pat McManus.

THREE SIX ZERO ACQUIRES SARM STUDIOS: Three Six Zero, the independent management and entertainment company, has purchased Sarm House Studios in West London in England. The recording facility houses six studios and a suite of purpose-built offices. Previously, the studio was owned by renowned legendary musician and producer, Trevor Horn. Over the years, the studio has played host to artists such as Paul McCartney, Rihanna, Dua Lipa, One Direction, Lana Del Rey, Mark Ronson, Stormzy, and more. Following the purchase, the complex will undergo a renovation before it reopens with Three Six Zero. The facilities will be readily available to all Three Six Zero clients and partners and will also serve as the new base for Three Six Zero Recordings.

TAKING ON A NEW A&R “POSITION”: Samantha Sklar, A&R, Warner Chappell Music has parted ways with the major publisher to take on a new A&R role that will be unveiled soon. Sklar has spent the better part of the past three years at the Los Angeles-based publisher, and A&R Worldwide understands she’ll be taking on a new A&R role at a burgeoning music company, whereas she’ll take on a new position. On her departure from Warner Chappell Music, Sklar stated, “I am so grateful for this experience and for each and every one of you – thank you for making my time great. I feel honored to have worked with such an incredible roster of talent and a great team and am excited to work with you all in a new capacity as I move on. I’ll be announcing my next adventure very shortly.” Prior to joining Warner Chappell Music, Sklar spent three years at Universal Music’s Verve Music Group where she was involved in publicity and international marketing.

NEW GLOBAL ADVENTURES AT AMAZON: Rashad Drakeford has been named as the new Global Head of Content Marketing, Amazon Music Creative Studio, whereas he’ll oversee international marketing of output from the company. Drakeford stated, “I am beyond thrilled to lean in with this incredible team and join their efforts in developing innovative creative that resonates with customers, amplifies artists, and supports creators around the world.” Most recently Drakeford was Founder & Chief Creative Officer at Ericsson Street, a creative company focused on delivering compelling stories, investing in innovative brands, and designing empowering products. He also spent a year in the role Head of Content Marketing at Robinhood, and prior to that spent over four years at Apple, including the role of Global Social Media Lead, Beats by Dr. Dre.

JOINING THE “KARTEL” AS MANAGING DIRECTOR: Heather Swaine has joined Kartel Music Group as Managing Director. The move marks an expansion of the company’s marketing and media promotions agency. The UK-based company plans to strengthen its marketing agency, offering publicity, radio, social, creative, and digital marketing. Swaine has been in the music industry for almost 20 years. Her career began in 2004 at Virgin Records and has since worked at EMI Records, Gut Records, Warner Records, Charmfactory, and WMA. Swaine joins Tom Poole, who was promoted to Head of Promotions in 2021, and Federica Furlotti, Head of Media, in leading the team across all media promotions.

EXPANDING HIS ROLE: Gustavo Canazio, Director of Booking New Orleans, ASM Global has expanded his duties with the additional responsibility of becoming Southeast Regional Booking Director. The 15 year-veteran has extensive experience across concert and artist management, whereas he worked at the globally renowned Velvet Hammer Music and Management Group, where he was the point artist manager for artists including System of A Down, Cypress Hill, Deftones and many others, and worked alongside company’s highly-respected Founder & CEO David “Beno” Benveniste. In addition, he was one of the talent bookers for the Rock in Rio festival in Las Vegas and Brazil, as well as tour director at Live Nation helping to produce tours for artists including Post Malone, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden and others. ASM Global’s New Orleans list of venues includes the Caesars Superdome, Smoothie King Center and the outdoor, multi-use Champions Square outdoor space.

REVVING UP HIS “RPM” IN NASHVILLE: Tim Wipperman has joined ONErpm, the indie music, distribution and label services company, as Managing Director for Nashville. Wipperman previously spent almost 30 years as an executive at Warner Chappell before moving to Equity Music Group for five years, and then running his own music company, Wipperman Music Group. He later served as CEO of Rezonant Music and then President of Anthem Music Publishing in 2019. He became the youngest publisher to receive the ASCAP “Country Music Publisher of the Year” award and won BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC “Publisher of The Year” awards more than 10 times. In his new position at ONErpm, Wipperman will oversee staff and operations in Nashville, including negotiation of artist deals and growth of the local office.

EXECUTIVE CHANGES AT WARNER RECORDS: Dionnee Harper is joining Warner Records as Executive Vice President of Marketing & Artist Development, effective September 15th. Harper is currently Sr. Vice President, Head of Marketing at Warner Music Group sister label Atlantic Records. In her new post, Harper will oversee Warner’s marketing strategy across all genres, while working closely with the company’s various departments. She will relocate from New York to the label’s Downtown Los Angeles headquarters and report to Tom Corson, co-Chairman & COO, Warner Records. During her career, Harper has worked closely with artists such as Charlie Puth, Kevin Gates, Kehlani, B.o.B, Flo Rida, and many more. She also served as Atlantic’s primary liaison with Mike Caren’s successful APG label. Harper has played a key role in shaping Atlantic’s world-class Black Music department and has been an influential guide and mentor to the next generation of Atlantic executives. At the same time, it was announced that Chris Atlas, Warner’s EVP, Urban Music & Marketing, who recently relocated to New York City, will be taking on a new role at the label, to be revealed soon. In addition, Mark Flaherty, Warner Records’ current EVP, Head of Marketing, has decided to leave the company. To ensure a seamless transition, he will remain in his post until Harper’s arrival this fall.

CARLY PEARCE GETS STARSTRUCK: Country star, Carly Pearce has signed with Narvel Blackstock’s Starstruck Entertainment. Pearce was formerly managed by Morris Higham’s Clint Higham and Kyle Quigley since 2019. Now, at Startstruck Management, the reigning ACM and CMA “Female Vocalist of the Year” joins a roster of clients such as Blake Shelton, Maggie Rose, and more. Pearce is signed to Big Machine Records and is booked by CAA. She will be opening for Kenny Chesney this summer and will host the ACM Honors in August.

SEEKING SHELTER: Tyson Haller has joined Shelter Music Group (SMG) as their new Sr. VP Promotion & Artist Strategy and joins the company’s growing New York Cit and international operations. Most recently, Haller was Sr. VP Promotion at Concord, and prior to that he was Sr. VP Promotion & Label Services at Warner Music Group’s ADA. Carl Stubner, CEO, SMG made the announcement of Haller’s hiring last week and stated, “Bringing in an executive like Tyson is an important step for our company in furthering our commitment to our clients by providing the highest level of service. I’m proud that, over the past two years, Shelter has grown into an international full-service management company with a robust shared services staff that provides marketing, radio promotion, digital strategy and brand partnerships to our diverse roster.” The company has also elevated Clay Busch to VP, Brand Partnerships, whereas he’ll be based at the company’s Nashville, TN location. SMG has expanded its UK office with the addition of Marco Gattinoni to its artist management team along with its recent partnership with talent firm Ayita. The firm has also unveiled recent artist signings to its roster, which includes Austin Meade, Micky James, Des Rocs and the Japanese alternative metal band SiM.

WASSERMAN UPS AGENTS: Wasserman Music has promoted London-based agents Dave Blackgrove, Mike Malak, and Adele Slater to partner with the firm. Veteran agents, Nick Cave and Chris Smyth have also joined the agency. Blackgrove joins from Coda Agency, where he spent the past 14 years. His electronic music roster includes Camelphat, Fisher, Sonny Fodera, Dom Dolla, and others. Malak is the European agent for Billie Eilish and created the record label and music publishing company Coldpress. Slater joined Coda six years ago, whereas he signed Liam Gallagher. Her roster also includes Courtney Barnett, Perfume Genius, Wet Leg and others. Nick Cave spent 13 years at WME, growing an electronic music roster that includes Charlotte de Witte, Mind Against, John Smmit to name a few. Chris Smyth ran his own digital PR company before joining Primary Talent International as an agent back in 2015.

10:22PM PARTNERS WITH NFT DEVZ: 10:22PM, Universal Music Group’s next-gen label for discovering, developing, and empowering artists, digital creators and brands, announced an agreement today with NFT Devz that will allow fans of the Bored Ape supergroup KINGSHIP to mint NFTs from the band’s premiere collection using credit cards through MoonPay, the web3 infrastructure company. KINGSHIP’s first NFT collection, a series of Key Cards that provide access to the group’s virtual world and token-gated community, as well as products and experiences, which became available to mint on Thursday, July 14.

JESSICA RIVERA RISES INTO SOUNDCLOUD: Jessica Rivera has joined SoundCloud as Global SVP & General Manager. Maurice Slade has been named Head of Marketing at the company. Both Rivera and Slade will work on SoundCloud’s efforts to strengthen the company’s Artist Partnerships offerings to help both emerging and established artists navigate the industry. Both will report to SoundCloud President Eliah Seton. Rivera joins the company from Nas co-founded music company Mass Appeal where she served as General Manager since June 2021. Slade joins from Epic Records where he was SVP of Marketing. Rivera and Slade join a number of recent executive hires at SoundCloud.

JOINING SYMPHONIC DISTRIBUTION: Jonathan Carmel has joined Symphonic Distribution as Web3 and NFT Lead. Carmel is a former Tour Manager and Artist Manager for artists such as Charlie Puth, Kali Uchis, Jack & Jack, and Ben Platt. In his new role, he will report to Chief Partnership Officer Nick Gordon, who was promoted to the role in March and joined the company in 2018 after it raised $4 million in a Series A funding round. Recently, Symphonic raised $37 million in a Series B funding round. Carmel’s appointment aims to build partnerships “to cultivate a best-in-class Web3 toolkit and offering for its client roster,” according to Symphonic.
