Concord Music Publishing today announced a new global publishing deal with hitmaker Tre Jean-Marie. The British songwriter and producer is currently enjoying success with Mabel’s latest album About Last Night..., which debuted at No.1 in the UK Album Chart, which Tre co-wrote and/or produced several songs on.
Over the last few years, Tre has enjoyed significant success on the charts; most notably he co-wrote, produced and mixed the Top 5 hit single “Lighter” by Nathan Dawe ft. KSI which is now certified Platinum.

Last year Tre made considerable contributions to Anne-Marie’s album Therapy – co-writing and producing “Unlovable” and “Better Not Together” and Little Mix’s last album – co-writing and producing the single “No,” title track “Between Us” and bonus track “Trash.”

Tre has also been working with Zara Larsson, Mimi Webb, Galantis, Becky Hill, Meduza and Marshmello.

Simon Cowell, the well-known global music and multimedia personality and executive has signed to management firm YMU for UK representation. YMU will represent Cowell across all facets of his business including TV, partnerships, and more. Cowell will be managed by group Chris Hughes, Executive Director YMU. YMU Group specializes in entertainment, music, sport, art, social, literary, and business management and works across premium talent areas including creative, social strategy, commercial, publishing, live experiences, public speaking, data, and more.

BMG has announced it has acquired the key music interests of legendary Scottish rock band Simple Minds.
The agreement with the band’s core members Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill includes the publishing rights to more than 240 songs across five UK No.1 albums, the band’s neighboring rights and royalties from their entire recorded catalogue.

The deal marks the culmination of a long-standing relationship between BMG and Simple Minds. BMG has previously served as the administrator of the band’s publishing catalogue and released their 2018 album Walk Between Worlds. Last month, BMG announced that it will release the band’s latest studio album, Direction Of The Heart, on October 21.

The acquisition of the Simple Minds catalogue is BMG’s eighth acquisition in the UK this year. The company announced in April that it had acquired a 50% stake in Primal Scream’s music publishing interests.

Additionally, BMG has acquired the entire music publishing back catalog of French electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre.

Jean-Michel Jarre has generated 85 million album sales over his career and holds numerous world records for his live concert spectaculars which have attracted some of the biggest audiences in human history, including the Paris Bastille Day concert in 1979 (one million people), Houston in 1986 (1.3 million fans), Paris-La Défense in 1990 (2.5 million fans) and his 1997 show Moscow (3.5 million people).

Jarre was also the first Western musician to ever perform in China in 1981. He returned in 2004 upon invitation again to play the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square live on national television. More recently, the live stream of his 2020 VR concert Welcome To The Other Side, live from Virtual Notre Dame de Paris, attracted 75 million viewers.

He has released 21 studio albums including the 1981 full-length Magnetic Fields, which was one of the first records to use a sampler. Jarre’s commitment to technology has influenced generations of artists, many of whom he has collaborated with including Moby, Armin van Buuren, Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja, Edgar Froese, Laurie Anderson, Gesaffelstein, the Pet Shop Boys, Gary Numan and Hans Zimmer. His latest album Amazonia, the score to an exhibition by legendary photographer Sebastião Salgado was released in 2021 to pay tribute to the Amazonian Forest, its inhabitants, and the threats they face. Always pushing technology’s boundaries, Jean-Michel Jarre recently performed his new immersive live project, Oxymore, at Radio France’s Hyper Weekend Festival.

The acquisition of Jarre’s catalog is the biggest single deal ever struck by BMG in France.


Multi-Platinum, Grammy-nominated artist and producer Tommy Parker has signed a global publishing agreement in partnership with 10K Projects, Champagne Therapy and Coup D’Etat Music.

MNRK GETS SOME NEW “FRICK-TION”: MNRK Music Group (MNRK) has tapped Michael Frick as its new VP, Creative Services, for its Music Department.  Michael is based in Los Angeles and reports to Maria Alonte, MNRK’s Sr. VP, Music Department. In this newly created role, Frick will be the Music Creative in brand partnerships and synch for MNRK’s Music Dept. He will handle day-to-day synch activity for artists and writers in MNRK’s global group in the advertising/brand marketing space. In addition, he’ll work alongside the music supervision team, providing creative services to brands as a music strategist/ consultant. Frick has worked with brands and creative content teams on music strategy and supervision throughout his career. A former music journalist, he speaks the complex language of branding, advertising, integrated tv, and web3. In 2003, Frick founded music production and incubator, Mophonics. Key moments in his career include supervision for the launch of iTunes, producing the first custom song for an Apple ad, and signing Grammy-nominated Foster the People’s Mark Foster as a composer to score brand campaigns, which was the catalyst to Foster writing the critically acclaimed, chart-topping “Pumped Up Kicks.” He has also worked with Linda PerryThievery CorporationFitz & the Tantrums, and Michael Franti, among others. He has designed integrated music platforms for such brand campaigns as Apple, Visit CaliforniaDiscover Los AngelesQuickbooksCadillac and Verizon. DAS GUT AT BMG: Marteria, one of Germany's most influential artists, has chosen BMG as his new label home. The partnership includes the release of his upcoming albums. It is his first new label deal since 2008. The new deal was facilitated with the support of Feline Moje, Senior Director Recorded Music GSA, and Maximilian Kolb, BMG Executive Vice President, Repertoire & Marketing Continental Europe.  Over the course of his career, Marteria has worked with renowned artists such as Die Toten Hosen, CasperHaftbefehlTrettmannDJ KozeUdo Lindenberg and Peter Fox. He’s also well-known for his spectacular live shows. GETTING PROMOTED AT KOBALT: Kobalt today announced the promotion of Jamie Kinelski to the role of Sr. Vice President & Head of West Coast Creative. Kinelski will oversee the Los Angeles creative team in this newly formed role. Since joining Kobalt as Creative Director in 2014, Kinelski has developed an expansive roster with Kali UchisFather John MistyMoses SumneyRogét ChahayedPop WanselCucoDijon and Saya Gray. She’s also helped ink key partnerships between Kobalt and Heavy Duty Publishing and 88Rising. Before joining Kobalt in 2014, Jamie served as Director of Creative Services, Pop/Rock at ASCAP, where she signed such artists as Big Sean and HAIM.

OPENING UP THEIR PLAY: OpenPlay Inc., a platform for asset and catalog management, announced today newly added support for stem files in its Sessions tool set. With new stems support, users can upload and store any number of stem files associated with a track alongside its other assets traditionally stored in OpenPlay, allowing the files to be used for sync pitching, sampling, marketing, and more. Sessions is designed to empower engineers, producers, and artists to capture metadata generated during the music recording process including contributors, recording studio, location, and now stem files. All stems uploaded into Sessions are automatically associated with ISRC numbers or projects, can be viewed or played individually, and can be downloaded and shared with downstream clients or partners, giving labels more flexibility with their storage and uses both inside and outside of OpenPlay.

LAUREN ALAINA COMES TO BIG LOUD RECORDS: Lauren Alaina, who recently departed from her former label Mercury/Universal Music Group (UMGNashville, has signed with Big Loud Records. Alaina had been with UMG Nashville since she was a teenager after appearing on American Idol. She signed with Big Loud after revealing that it was her dream label, and after having multiple conversations with Big Loud executives including CEO Seth England, Producer Joey Moi, and Sr. VP of Marketing Candice Watkins, who Alaina had worked with a UMG Nashville. Big Loud Records is also home to Morgan Wallen, Chris Lane, Jake Owen, and others. Alaina’s album Sitting Pretty On Top of the World was released last September, and most recently she collaborated with Big Loud’s Chris Lane on “Dancin’ In The Moonlight.”

SAILING INTO A NEW DEAL: River House Artists, in partnership with Sony Music Publishing Nashville, have announced the signing of rising country music singer-songwriter Reid Haughton to a worldwide publishing agreement. Raised in the small town of Haleyville, AL, singer-songwriter Reid Haughton jumpstarted his career during college at Auburn University where he began booking his own gigs and touring throughout the southeast. It was during this time that he released his first song as an artist, “Make You Mine” in 2018. Three years and four single releases later, Haughton made the move to Nashville in 2021, and since then he has shared the stage with artists such as Dwight Yoakam, Jameson Rodgers, Priscilla Block, Riley Green and many more. Since being in Nashville, Haughton has written alongside prominent songwriters such as John Morgan, Jordan Walker, Rivers Rutherford, and others. Currently, Reid is working on writing and recording new music, discovering his new sound, and taking his career to the next level.

UTA SECURES STRATEGIC INVESTMENT: EQT, which is a private equity firm has become a strategic investor in UTA. With the EQT X fund, the UTA partnership and leadership team will continue to hold the controlling interest in the company, with EQT becoming the largest outside shareholder. UTA was co-founded in 1991 by its CEO Jeremy Zimmer and represents talent across music, TV, film, sports, digital media, publishing, podcasts, and provides advisory and marketing services to leading global brands. UTA has expanded over the past few years with the acquisition of European publishing and talent agency The Curtis Brown Group, and the purchase of MediaLink, the strategic advisory firm for entertainment and media companies. Over four years, the number of employees at the company has almost doubled to nearly 1,900 staff worldwide.

MONTELL FISH SIGNS WITH VIRGIN MUSIC: Virgin Music Label and Artist Services has announced the signing of multi-genre artist Montell Fish and his label Lord’s Child. In celebration of his signing with Virgin, and in preparation for his new LP Jamie, out on July 22, Montell has released his first two songs “Hollow Lover” and “love you more than me. Montell has been amassing a significant following on social media, specifically with TikTok where he’s received over 35M likes with 1.1M followers. He’s also received over 138 million streams in the US and has been featured on some of Spotify’s most well-known playlists including New Music Friday and Pop Rising. Montell will be touring the UK and Europe beginning later this summer and will be announcing additional tour dates soon.

AMERICAN IDOL CASTING: Peter Cohen, Sr. Supervising Talent Producer with Fremantle Media, has informed A&R Worldwide that the iconic ABC series American Idol has started its talent search for their 21st season of the popular program. The highly rated and No.1 digital unscripted show is looking for talented singers and solo artists of all styles and genres, ages 15-28.Cohen tells us that American Idol now features original music, and artists are free to have management, publishing deals, and booking agents, whereas in the past they were not. Idol has produced a string of successful artists in recent seasons including Gabby Barrett, Lauren Spencer-Smith, Benson Boone, Catie Turner, and Alejandro Aranda. ROBA MUSIC INKS ADMIN DEAL WITH BUCKS: Bucks Music Group has signed a UK/Eire administration agreement with German independent ROBA Music Publishing. ROBA is one of the leading music publishers in the German speaking countries. The company offers full-service music publishing, provides global writer and publisher administration, clearance and licensing, and music supervision for all media. Its infrastructure delivers innovative technology that includes an advanced and transparent client dashboard, as well as global licensing, collection, and monitoring solutions. The company has a diverse portfolio of clients including composers, artists, producers, publishers, music labels, film production companies, broadcast networks and brand companies. Key artists on ROBA’s roster include Sven Väth, Scooter, ATB, Ben Böhmer, and Avec. German labels Summerfield, Place Called Home and Soave are also among the company’s clients.

MATT ROWSELL JOINS YMU: International artist management company YMU has announced the immediate appointment of Matt Rowsell to the position of Artist Manager. Based in London, Roswell will report directly to Chris Dempsey, Managing Director, UK. As an independent artist manager for over 15 years, Matt has worked in the music industry since 2004, starting his career as an assistant promoter at the Barfly group in York. His first foray into artist management was with acclaimed rock band We Are The Ocean, followed by Capitol Records UK signing Eliza and the Bear, who have enjoyed a successful decade-long career to date. In 2019 Matt discovered Lauran Hibberd who recently signed to Virgin Music and has her debut album coming out later this year.

PANDORA’S NEW MUSIC CHARTS WEBSITE: Pandora has launched a brand-new music charts website at PandoraCharts.com. The new Pandora charts site features its three main music charts: Top Thumb Hundred, Top Spins, and Trendsetters, and is updated weekly. Pandora’s newest chart, Top Thumb Hundred ranks new releases based on the number of thumbs up received from listeners. Pandora’s thumbing feature is a strong signal of positive feedback and gives unique insight into the first-week reception of new releases. Top Spins ranks the top hundred spinning songs on Pandora. Tracks are removed after 16 weeks to keep the chart fresh, unless they’re still climbing in position, which they call a “hot streak. Trendsetters ranks emerging artists (any artist our algorithm considers to not yet be “mainstream”) based on the number of users who are adding that artist’s station. This is a strong signal of Pandora listeners’ interest in an artist and a great way to discover the next big thing! New charts are published every Sunday (Top Thumb Hundred) and Monday (Top Spins, Trendsetters). Users can check the charts each week or subscribe to receive weekly updates in email form.

BRENT FAIYAZ RENEWS PUBLISHING DEAL WITH PULSE MUSIC GROUP: Scott Cutler and Josh Abraham, co-CEOs of PULSE Music Group and Ashley Calhoun, President, PULSE Music Group have announced that R&B artist, Brent Faiyaz has renewed a global publishing deal with the firm. Faiyaz initially signed to PULSE Music Group’s roster of songwriters and producers in 2016, and since that time has collaborated with a list of artists, songwriters, and producers. In tandem with his publishing deal renewal, Brent’s debut full-length album WASTELAND, released independently by Lost Kids via Venice and Stem entered the charts at No.1 on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Albums, No.1 on R&B albums, No.2 on Billboard 200 and was the No.1 Spotify Top Albums Debut Global. The weekend the album hit, songs from WASTELAND simultaneously held the No.1, No.2, No.4, No.5, No.6, No.7, No.8, and No.9 slots on Spotify Top Songs Debut USA Charts. Carron Mitchell represented Brent Faiyaz for the deal with PULSE Music Group.

MARXEN GETS ELEVATED AT THIS IS MUSIC: This Is Music, the London-based management company has promoted Lisa Marxen to the role of Managing Director. Oli Isaacs, who spent 15 years in the Managing Director role, has handed over the responsibilities to Marxen in recognition of her operational role in the day-to-day of running the company within the leadership team. Isaac will continue to oversee all client projects but will focus on business development and strategy. This Is Music was founded in 2007 and has built a client base upon Oli Isaacs’; music law practice with artists including Little Boots and producer James Ford (Arctic Monkeys/Depeche Mode). The roster now includes Ford, Bicep, Roosevelt, Ross From Friends, and others.

NEW ARTIST CLIENTS SIGN WITH THREE SIX ZERO: Three Six Zero has signed Grammy-award winning producer Ayo The Producer (Austin Owens) and singer, rapper, and songwriter RMR as management clients. Ayo The Producer has worked with artists such as Skrillex, Rick Ross, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Bryson Tiller, Wiz Khalifa, and others. His success took off in 2019 when he won a Grammy Award for his work on Cardi B’s debut album, Invasion of Privacy. He later produced Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP. RMR signed with Warner Records and Cmnty Records before he released his debut EP, Drug Dealing Is A Lost Art in 2020. His EP featured contributions from Future, Lil Baby, Westside Gunn, and Young Thug. Ayo The Producer and RMR will be managed by Three Six Zero’s David Savage.

AUSTRALASIAN SYNC DEAL WITH MUSHROOM: Mushroom Music has signed a deal with Reservoir for sync representation of the masters of Reservoir’s independent labels Chrysalis Records and Tommy Boy Music in Australia and New Zealand. Reservoir acquired Chrysalis Records in 2019. Since then, Chrysalis, which represents over 20,000 recordings comprising British and American rock and pop tracks from the 1960s to 1990s, has relaunched as a frontline label for artist signings Emeli Sande, Laura Marling, and Ben Harper. Reservoir acquired Tommy Boy Music in 2021, bringing in over 6,000 hip-hop and electronic masters including Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise” and House of Pain’s Jump Around. The sync deal follows a physical distribution agreement for both Chrysalis and Tommy Boy catalogue with Proper.

A FIRST ALL-IN-ONE DATA PLATFORM: Mandolin, a digital fan engagement platform, has launched two new products - Fan Navigator and Mandolin Fan Pages - that will help artists meet each fan where they are, and maximize revenue opportunities both on and offline. Mandolin says that its Fan Navigator is an all-in-one solution that unifies and enriches an artist’s data so they can truly know their fans; understanding them down to the individual with unique fan profiles and as actionable segments grouped via machine learning that predict level of fandom. The included playbooks give artists tailored marketing recommendations to activate each fan on their road to super fandom - all with data fully owned and accessible by the artist. Fan Pages are the artist’s branded epicenter for fan engagement. Mandolin’s Fan Pages provides rich media embeds, tour and merch store integrations, survey and follower gates that reward the most loyal fans, and de-anonymize passive fans according to the company.

CARLA WEHBE INKS GLOBAL DEAL WITH BMG: BMG has signed Carla Wehbe to an exclusive global music publishing deal. Wehbe is a Sydney, Australia-based singer, songwriter, and producer who has been creating a buzz since 2019 when she featured on Tyron Hapi’s “Touched, a single that accumulated over 7 million streams on Spotify. In 2020, Wehbe released her debut EP Half Past Nine independently. In 2021, she collaborated with Illy on the track “No Feelings, contributed writing to Vera Blue’s “Temper, and signed a recording deal with Warner Music Australia upon the release of the single “hurts to love you.

ASM GLOBAL EXPANDS FURTHER INTO ASIA PACIFIC: ASM Global has partnered with the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports via Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia to enhance existing operations of event activities at the Kuala Lumpur Sports City precinct - the largest sports complex in the region. The partnership highlights the Malaysian government’s goal to see the national sports precinct develop a world-class reputation as the host of leading sports, entertainment, and community events. ASM Global will further expand its sports and events venue footprint in Asia which includes the largest stadium in ASM Global’s worldwide collection, the 87,400 seat Malaysia National Stadium. SIGNING WITH WARNER CHAPPELL: Nashville, TN-based artist and songwriter Tyler Chambers has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with Warner Chappell Music. During the past four years, Chambers has toured across the US, and racked-up over 100 performances, as well as penning over 400 songs to date. NETEASE CLOUD MUSIC EXPANDS K-POP PORTFOLIO: Chinese tech company NetEase’s subsidiary Cloud Village has entered into a licensing agreement with South Korea-based music company YG Entertainment. This new deal grants NetEase’s Cloud Music the right to distribute YG Entertainment’s music catalog in China. The roster includes K-Pop artists such as BIGBAND, BLACKPINK, SECHSKIES, AKMU, WINNER, iKON, TREASURE, and others. YG Entertainment was founded in 1996 and is one of the largest entertainment companies in South Korea. NetEase Cloud Music’s deal with YG Entertainment marks its second agreement with a South Korea-based entertainment company in the past two months.

FIRST ARTISTS LAUNCHES MENTOR PROGRAM: First Artists Management (FAM)–the international talent agency representing composers and music supervisors–has announced the launch of its inaugural Composer Assistant & Mentor Program (C.A.M.P.). In partnership with Youth Music, the initiative welcomes aspiring music makers aged 18-25, based in England, Scotland or Wales. With a focus on underrepresented groups, it aims to create opportunities to break into the music for screen industry. Upon entry into the program, mentees will gain knowledge of the industry, build a portfolio, and grow their network - providing important steps to a career in composing for media. Level one, commencing end September 2022, over five weeks, includes an online educational series, practical advice, and tips on the industry as well as one-to-one mentoring with experienced composer mentors including David Arnold, Alex Baranowski, Anne Chmelewsky, Benji Merrison, CJ Mirra, Olunuga, Paul Saunderson, Will Slater, Gazelle Twin, and Joe Wilson.

KINGSHIP’S SOLD-OUT NFTS: KINGSHIP, the supergroup signed to 10:22PM, recently sold-out their entire collection of 5,000 access-enabled Key Cards in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which will allow collectors to access the group’s virtual world as well as unlock, products, experiences, and a token-gated community. The Key Cards became available to mint starting Thursday, July 14, selling-out two hours after the release of the final wave on Friday, July 15. The collection ranked No.1 on OpenSea’s Music Chart and ranked as the marketplace’s No.1 Trending NFT collection across all categories on release day. This marked the first time OpenSea had a special reserve offered at the same time as the primary mint for sale directly through the OpenSea marketplace, with NFTs No.1 – No.300 selling out in minutes.
