OF ITS RENOWNED EXECUTIVE VIP DINNER IN 2023





A&R Worldwide will celebrate its 20-year milestone of its internationally renowned executive and creative networking dinner event in Burbank, CA next year during a very special VIP gala event that takes place after the conclusion of next year’s global music business showcase and conference MUSEXPO.
The intimate A&R Network (the predecessor to A&R Worldwide) networking dinners in Los Angeles, which first occurred back in 1999 and have since traveled to New York, Berlin, London, Helsinki, Toronto, Mumbai, Tokyo, Sydney, Nashville, Paris, Seoul, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Athens, Singapore, Beijing, Johannesburg, Dubai, Barcelona, Stockholm, Auckland and many other cities around the world. These exclusive dinners were organized by A&R Network and A&R Worldwide Founder Sat Bisla, and were originally started by Bisla and manager Dave Holmes, well-known for steering the successful career of Coldplay for the past two decades.
Bisla explains, "These dinners were organized with the purpose of bringing together friends from the international music, media and technology communities to connect with like-minded, forward-thinking professionals--all with the intent of discovering new music, broadening organically crafted relationships and creating unconventional ways of doing business within an ever-changing global market. Our ethos is to continually evolve, teach and inspire forward-thinking minds as well as create new platforms that will build the bridges for the future of our multifaceted business.”
As a result of the A&R Worldwide dinners – thousands of new relationships have been formed, priceless amounts of new business opportunities have been garnered, and countless individuals and companies have accessed essential information about the local and global music sectors across music, film, TV, gaming, live, booking, distribution, radio, streaming, media, technology, digital, publishing, A&R, management, brands and more.
The 20th anniversary edition of the dinner will be co-hosted by friends and music business colleagues of A&R Worldwide, and will be the biggest dinner ever in the past 20 years with several hundred guests anticipated to participate and attend.

Multi-Platinum, chart-topping, award-winning recording artist and songwriter Halsey has signed a new global publishing administration agreement with BMG. The deal includes Halsey’s future songwriting compositions including her recently released single “So Good” and the Calvin Harris single “Stay With Me” (with Justin Timberlake, Halsey, and Pharrell)’ featured on Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2.

Halsey has amassed more than 31 billion combined global streams to date, including more than 12.5 billion U.S. streams, and sold nearly 17 million adjusted album units worldwide. Their most recent album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, debuted at No.1 on Billboard’s Top Current Album Sales and Top Alternative Albums charts in 2021. It follows 2020’s Manic, which also entered the Top Current Album Sales chart at No.1 Manic was the first album of 2020 to be certified Platinum in the US and is now 2x Platinum. 2017’s hopeless fountain kingdom was recently certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA.

GLOBAL PUBLISHING DEAL WITH RYCE ENTERTAINMENT


Universal Music Publishing China RYCE Publishing Group

Universal Music Publishing China (UMP China), a division of Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), recently announced the signing of an exclusive, global publishing agreement with RYCE Publishing, the prominent publishing division of RYCE Entertainment, one of China’s leading music and entertainment companies.
Spanning a massive catalog of over 700 songs, the landmark deal will see UMP China exclusively lead global administration responsibilities for some of the country’s all-time best-sellers, and tracks that have helped establish Chinese Pop (C-Pop) as a global force, like “Manual to Youth” and “Adore” performed by TFBOYS; “100 Ways,” “I Love You 3000,” co-written and performed by superstar Jackson Wang; “Jiao Huan” performed by Zhou Shen; “EASIER,” performed by Amber Liu featuring Jackson Wang and “Xiao Juan,” performed by Sitar Tan.
Through this new strategic representation, UMP China will provide global infrastructure and opportunities for RYCE’s writers and artists to reach new audiences around the world. In addition, UMP China will work hand in hand with RYCE Publishing to further expand its roster of songwriters and producers, and the projects available to them, as it continues to establish itself among the region’s leaders.
In making the announcement, Joe Fang, Managing Director of Universal Music Publishing China, said, “We saw the rise of J-pop three decades ago and its massive influence on audiences across Asia. Now K-pop is a global phenomenon as we all know, and there has been a very key bridging force between these genres in the last two decades. With China rising to become the sixth biggest music market of the world, I believe the time of C-pop is here. RYCE Publishing, with its hybrid talents and border-crossing catalogs, is a central piece of that next bridging force and I’m thrilled that UMPG will play an instrumental role in supporting these future chapters of music history.”
Also included within the catalog are the Greater China rights to hundreds of major K-pop hits performed by Korean artists which include Super Junior, EXO-CBX, GOT7, TWICE and others, which have been very popular in China over the years. Under the new deal, UMP China and RYCE Publishing will build on its international success to continually promote and amplify K-pop music culture in the Greater China markets.

SHAUNI CABALLERO JOINS SONY MUSIC PUBLISHING A&R TEAM: Sony Music Publishing has named Shauni Caballero Senior A&R Manager. In her new role, Caballero will focus on the development of Sony Music Publishing’s roster of songwriters by creating new opportunities and cultivating new collaborations. Previously, Caballero founded The Go 2 Agency in 2017 and contributed to the breaking of acts including Central Cee, DigDat, SwitchOTR, and others. Caballero has already brought Central Cee, Russ Millions, and Nemzz to the SMP roster. She will be based at the firm’s London HQ in King’s Cross.

BMG ACQUIRES RIGHTS TO HARRY NILSSON

BMG ACQUIRES RIGHTS TO HARRY NILSSON: BMG has announced the acquisition of the rights to the critically-acclaimed songbook of Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson. The deal includes Nilsson’s publishing catalog, as well as artist and writer revenue streams of his hit songs including the chart-topping hits ‘Without You’, ‘Everybody’s Talkin’’, ‘One’, ‘Coconut’, and classics ‘Jump Into The Fire’, ‘Gotta Get Up’, and ‘Me and My Arrow’, among many others from his great American songbook. Over the course of his two-decade long recording career, Nilsson has released 18 studio albums. BMG will also begin collaborating with the Nilsson family in exploring global creative opportunities for their creative assets such as the The Point! story and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) including film, television, theatrical stage productions, books, and further areas of business.

JESS GLYNNE SIGNS TO EMI

JESS GLYNNE SIGNS TO EMI: Following her recent moves to Roc Nation for management and UTA for worldwide booking agency representation, award-winning UK artist Jess Glynne has signed to EMI. Glynne was previously signed to Atlantic and developed by then A&R and now co-President Briony Turner. The UK singer debuted in 2014 and has since released two UK No.1 albums. Glynne has a GRAMMY award, three Ivor Novello awards, and nine BRIT awards. EMI is currently the UK market leader for this year with a No.1 from Taylor Swift and major success with Sam Smith & Kim Petras, Rihanna, Elton John, and Lewis Capaldi. Jess Glynne will return to the market next year with new music.

GETTING A QUINTUPLE PLATINUM AWARD: Acclaimed award-winning rock band, Finger Eleven, are celebrating yet another career high with the news of their smash hit single, “Paralyzer,” receiving a record-breaking certification of Quintuple Platinum. Undoubtedly the band’s most successful single to-date, “Paralyzer” is also the first ever Canadian rock song to receive Quintuple Platinum designation. One of the most successful Canadian songs of all time, “Paralyzer” was the first single from Finger Eleven’s multi-Platinum selling, Them vs. You vs. Me, which garnered the quartet a JUNO award for “Rock Album of the Year.” The single enjoyed massive airplay, setting a record for the most consecutive weeks (14) at No.1 on the Canadian Rock charts. DEEZER NAMES NEW CMO: Maria Garrido has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer at Deezer. Garrido, a multinational marketing executive, joins Deezer with 25 years of leadership experience across global businesses. Throughout her career, Garrido has held operational and strategic roles across North America, Latin America, and Europe in goods, media, communications, and entertainment. In her new role, Garrido will be responsible for leading the marketing team and continuing to develop the Deezer brand by accelerating growth and global expansion. Garrido will be based in Paris and will report directly to Deezer CEO Jeronimo Folgueira.

MOVING UP AT ADA WORLDWIDE

MOVING UP AT ADA WORLDWIDE: Today, ADA Worldwide, the independent label and artist services arm of Warner Music Group, announced MaryLynne Drexler has been appointed Head of Business & Legal Affairs for the company. Drexler comes to ADA after several years with Sony Music’s The Orchard. In her new role, Drexler will help craft ADA’s global strategy while overseeing artist and distribution deals, as well as acquisitions, JVs, investments, new technologies, and strategic partnerships. At the same time, it was announced Bryan Roberts has been named VP, A&R and Label Acquisition for the company. Based in New York, both Drexler and Roberts will report to ADA Worldwide’s President, Cat Kreidich.

DANI DEAHL JOINS BANDLAB TECHNOLOGIES

DANI DEAHL JOINS BANDLAB TECHNOLOGIES: Dani Deahl has been named Head of Communications & Creator Insights at BandLab Technologies. Deahl joins BandLab from Output where she was most recently Editorial Director. Previously, Deahl led The Verge in coverage of consumer tech, writing about topics including music creation trends, AI, emerging genres, and creator platforms. She has also worked for NYLON and DJ Mag among other publications. In her new role with BandLab Technologies, Deahl will “serve as a prominent cultural liaison, highlighting the division’s impact on the future of the music industry and surveying industry changes to drive conversations and build connections.”

SNOOP DOGG JOINS THE WME POUND

SNOOP DOGG JOINS THE WME POUND: Snoop Dogg has signed with WME for representation across all commercial sectors for talent representation. This announcement follows Snoop Dogg’s recent acquisition of Death Row Records from MNRK Music Group. Snoop Dogg commented, “WME is the only place that can handle the career I’ve built and grow it even further.” WME will work with Snoop across music, film, TV, business, and digital. Snoop Dogg has 20 studio albums, two being released in 2022, and over 40 million albums sold worldwide. Additionally, Snoop has had various television and film roles, holds a spot on FaZe Clan’s board, and a clothing store in Inglewood following his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance. Snoop is set to open a Funko store next to his clothing store in 2023.

THE ORCHARD INKS GLOBAL PACT CHRISTIAN RICH: The Orchard has announced the signing of GRAMMY-nominated production and DJ duo Christian Rich to a global distribution and publishing administration agreement. The duo releases their new single “Work,” featuring Juicy J, Vic Mensa, and Armani Caesar on November 11th. Christian Rich’s new label venture Waterproof Colors will also have access to The Orchard’s full suite of artist and label services and global distribution network. Additionally, other artists signed to The Orchard's artist and label roster will have the opportunity to work creatively with Christian Rich. Rapper Armani Caesar is the first artist within The Orchard’s network to work with the duo through this partnership.

WARNER MUSIC LAUNCHES "OUT OF ORDER" LABEL

WARNER MUSIC LAUNCHES ‘OUT OF ORDER’ LABEL: Warner Music’s Emerging Markets division has launched a new label called OUT OF ORDER. The label will highlight artists, music, cultures and communities from regions including Africa, India, the Middle East, Southeastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. The label will be supported by Atlantic Records in the US and Parlophone in the UK and work in partnership with Warner Music’s established affiliates in those markets. Alongside the album releases, OUT OF ORDER will also run a weekly online radio show, featuring 60-minute DJ mixes, each inspired by a track from one of the albums. The mixes will live on Audiomack, SoundCloud and YouTube. OUT OF ORDER is spearheaded by Selina Chowdhury, Warner Music’s Head of Marketing for Emerging Markets, who has previously worked at Atlantic Records in New York.

SOUND ROYALTIES LAUNCHES WEST COAST UNIT

SOUND ROYALTIES LAUNCHES WEST COAST UNIT: Sound Royalties, the Florida-based music finance firm, has expanded into the West Coast. Andrew Stess and David Bluthenthal of StessCo will lead the new unit, forming a new alliance between Sound Royalties and StessCo. StessCo aims to work with artists, rightsholders, and music companies, to discover financial solutions for tour support and other big projects. Andrew Stess has 25 years of music industry experience which includes working as a consultant for companies such as Dash Radio, LyricFind, Music Story, Tuned Global, Melodie, and more. Sound Royalties recently expanded into Canada and has networks in Nashville, Miami, New York, Canada, the UK, and Latin America.

CRAIG "BIG C" MANNIX PROMOTED AT UMG CANADA

CRAIG ‘BIG C’ MANNIX PROMOTED AT UMG CANADA: Craig ‘Big C’ Mannix has been promoted to Vice President, Black Music at Universal Music Canada. Mannix joined UMC in 2021 where he helped to establish the company’s urban music marketing team. Mannix was previously Senior Director, Urban Marketing. In his new role, Mannix will continue to expand upon UMC’s focus on Black Music with an integrated approach to marketing and A&R to discover, sign, and support Canadian Black Music and lead teams responsible for domestic and international Black Music marketing.

Alt/indie-pop outfit MASI MASI, led by the charming frontman Joe McGrath, is getting noticed in the right places, and rightfully so. The UK band has built an international fanbase with their standout singles “Favourite Gold,” “I’m Useless,” “Crabs” and “The Good Stuff.” Aside from earning global radio airplay and inclusion on a number of influential Spotify and Apple playlists as a band, McGrath who is a singer, songwriter and producer, is also a model who has done some recent campaigns with footwear and clothing manufacturer Reebok, and multinational lifestyle retailer Urban Outfitters. MASI MASI is constantly writing and recording and just unleashed the new single “Moaner Lisa.” According to McGrath, the track is about who you turn to when the monotonous simulation that’s UK life gets all a bit too much, and you fancy having a moan about it. Pale Waves
Manchester’s very own Pale Waves formed in 2014 and signed with Dirty Hit (The 1975, Wolf Alice, beabadoobee) three years later. In 2018 they released their debut studio album, My Mind Makes Noises, and in 2021 they released the sophomore album Who Am I? In August, Pale Waves unleashed their third album, Unwanted, featuring the singles “Lies,” “Reasons To Live,” “Jealousy” and “Clean.” As they prepare for their forthcoming headline tour of Japan and the UK later this month, the quartet release their visual for “Unwanted.” According to frontwoman Heather-Baron Gracie, they shot the video while they were on tour with 5 Seconds of Summer in the U.S. and had a wonderful time but were so excited to get home to the UK for their own tour. The track, which was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Zakk Cervini (blink-182, Halsey), is about not apologizing for being yourself and don’t change for anyone. “Unwanted” channels Sum 41 by way of Veruca Salt, including all of the guitars and rhythmic drive of a 2000s pop-punk classic, with a rage of a 90s rock band.
