GEORGE MERRILL AND SHANNON RUBICAM

Primary Wave
Primary Wave Music has announced their partnership with the legendary and award-winning songwriters, Shannon Rubicam and George Merrill.
Shannon Rubicam & George Merrill
The duo began their partnership nearly 40 years ago when they formed the critically acclaimed band, Boy Meets Girl. In 1985 they would release their debut album, seeing incredible success with several singles including “Oh Girl.” It was that same year the pair would achieve their first No.1 hit as songwriters of the Whitney Houston smash “How Will I Know.” A few years later, they repeated their No.1 success with “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me).” In 1988, the duo wrote “Waiting For A Star To Fall” which was originally meant for Houston, but the pair decided to record it on their own. The song reached the Top 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and shot to No.1 on the magazine’s Adult Contemporary chart.

Both Whitney Houston hits are included in this exciting new partnership which will see Primary Wave acquire Merrill and Rubicam’s interests in much of their publishing catalog, as well as writer’s share of income worldwide. Terms of the deal will also now give Merrill and Rubicam access to Primary Wave’s marketing and branding teams, as well as the publishing infrastructure which includes licensing and synch opportunities.

A&R WORLDWIDE'S ARTIST OF THE WEEK - NOBLE A&R WORLDWIDE’S "ARTIST OF THE WEEK" – NOBLE

Noble

Pedro Fidalgo who goes by the artist name Noble, is firmly proving to be one of the most prominent music acts on Portuguese soil. With just two full-length albums under his belt, he has already earned success with his singles, including “Honey,” which quickly became a radio hit soon after its release and was featured as the opening theme for the Portuguese soap opera Amar Depois de Amar. He’s also had success with the single “Beautiful,” taken from his sophomore album Secrets, an ode to those who have helped him not only during the beginning of his career, but also during his journey to the top of the music charts in his native country, released earlier this year. With his latest effort, “Lost In You,” Noble ventures into the themes of love and desire, with a newfound sound based on danceable grooves and bolder rhythms which is a sound clash of pop meets The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys! The track is the first taste of new material he’s been working on and works as a recollection of memories from idyllic moments spent with a special someone, a love kindled time and again, and the wish for such ephemeral moments to become everlasting. Enjoy “Lost In You” HERE, and contact Rogério Saraiva at rogerio@metrosonicrecords.com, as Noble is available for label, booking, publishing and sync opportunities across the globe.

The band worked with AdamAtomGreenspan (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party) to mix the album and help maximize their unique sound. Their latest single, “Step By Step” is filled with euphoric synth tones and sweeping melodies, the result of a number of musical influences ranging from Beck to Gorillaz and St. Vincent.
